Micra diesel looks to be a good alternative.

But going by Indian customers viewpoint, there are few questions that Nissan has to take care of:

1. Indian customers are more of a herd mentality people, the more volume on car sells the more people would want to buy one, that being the case we need to keep track of its sales and points made to encourage sales.
2. Logan diesel does not have that good a reputation as enjoyed by Fiesta. Remember its the Fiesta engine that gave the sales push for Figo not figo by itself.
3. With Logan providing the same engine and with M&M's efforts to bring down the length. I am expecting the Logan and Micra to be available at same price point.
That being the case as usual we are known to choose the Sedan over the Hatch, something Nissan should make sure they are covered.

BTW, I am really getting started to hate all the companies announcing Booking open without announcing the price.

As a customer, will they accept, if I say I will book, but I will tell how much I will pay you ultimately but give me the car

Not at all. Ask the cabwalas. They swear by the Logan's diesel engine. For it's reliability, fuel efficiency and decent power.

Customers please Simply do not book if you have not received any technical information on the very product to be booked payind an x amount as advance.

In India for foreign brands Indians pledge their trust and make a booking history.

Gentlemen Let us evolve as customers and ask car companies to provide more details (atleast details not features!) to customers about their prodcut prior to booking

Are those prices Ex-showroom or On Road prices.
Also is the LIP similar to RIP.

If its ex-showroom, dont think Figo will be bothered about it. The highest variant in Figo is lower than 5.65 L, so no issues there for Ford.

But as mentioned by some, Punto and Polo will surely be bothered about this price point.

The XV version seems to be just 37K over petrol version! This is good for the customer, and bad for the petrol version

Considering the weight of Micra it seems to be a better performer than Figo. Hope we will see a diesel I10 sooner than expected.. As Micra can eat some sales from I10.

to add to the confusion, the XV diesel is not similar to XV petrol. It does not have any feel-good features like push-button start, folding mirrors and ACC.

All those features are only present in the XV premium. The XV premium is basically same as the petrol XV plus 15" alloys.

Ridiculous naming convention by Nissan. Can't remember any other manufacturer adopting such policy of having different features for the same model in petrol and diesel versions.

Disclaimer: I do not have any first hand info, read these stuff from AutocarIndia.

Diesel Hatchback Automatic

Is Nissan Micra coming with a Diesel Automatic? Or for that matter, do any of the diesel hatches have (or planned) an automatic version ?

Actually its done all the time. Diesels always lose out on equipment so that they can keep prices low.

Nissan start pre-order bookings of the diesel Micra

“The success of petrol variant of Micra in the domestic market has given us huge confidence to introduce the diesel variant within six-months from the launch of petrol version. We are confident that the diesel-powered Micra would fulfill the discerning needs of Indian customers,” Nissan Motor India’s Managing Director and CEO, Kiminobu Tokuyama, said.

It's the other way round wrt to the Swift VXi/VDi though! The VDi gets body colored ORVMs, door handles, 12V outlet, etc. while the VXi doesn't.

But there is no real top-end version in Swift, something like a ZDI version (with Airbags and Alloys). Hope Micra does not do anything like that and launch the top-end version with all the avaliable options for the Petrol version.

Not entirely true, if this was the case Ikon D would have been a run away success. coming back to the topic 1.5 d engine is really good and it can be compared against the Ford diesel engine on Figo, they both are same first gen CRDI engines
