Tata Indica Vista REFRESH

It is the time of the year when most models go under the knife to come out leaner, meaner, and fitter (Sorry, Maruti! ) just in time for the festivities.

Last year, Tata's Sumo Grande went under the makeover to become Sumo Grande MKII but sadly, it still didn't gel with the pretty lasses who went wild modelling with Mahidra's Xylo.

This year though, Tata has taken its trusted hatchback Indica Vista for the makeover and its has not just REFRESHed the interiors and some features but also overhauled the variant line-up.

Thanks for breaking the news Akhilesh but I'm tempted to ask "What's new?" It is hardly a refresh, in my opinion. Adding plastic wheel arches wouldn't suffice either. Vista is in need of a serious revision given that competition in this segment has multiplied many times.

I must admit that Vista refresh is hardly made any changes except the interior colour scheme but what has changed is the product positioning. Earlier, Vista had umpteen variants for all its engine options confusing customers in turn.

With the new Vista, Aura model is discontinued making things a lot simpler.

As for major changes, do read about 90BHP Indica Vista Safire also being launched around the same time.

Due credit to Tata here, understanding that Vista refresh is minor update - they have decided to launch it softly. i.e new vehicles will start selling once old stocks are finished without any humdrum usually associated with Maruti Suzuki who would change the design of decal and re-label a product and market it as 'all-new'.

The new dual colour interiors looks much better and upmarket compared to the existing all beige interiors seen in the current Vista. The Steering especially looks infinitely better. The departure of Defogger and Tachometer in Aqua is not very good news. The Blaupunkt HU is a nice introduction (for a limited time though).

My Friend just bought a Aqua Q-Jet. Vista is a very good car with huge spacious interiors, peppy and efficient QJD engine, crisp gearbox and well sorted ride. Easily the best Diesel family hatch for someone with priority set on Comfort, Value and Space.

Are there any changes to the Exteriors also ? or they remain the same.

The Interiors look much better, then those full beige Interiors on the earlier version.

The dual tone interior does look good. If only TATA improved the handling of Vista, it would be a worthy competitor in the segment.
I have driven Vista extensively for more than 2000kms. I loved the engine, space and the ride quality. But the steering and handling needs to improve. You really don't feel confident chucking this car around.

Happy to see the Vista Refresh - I think this will earn atleast some brownie points with future customers.

Love the new steering wheel - but going by the pics, seems like this is only for top end models :(

The new two-tone interiors looks nice.

Tata missed a chance to ditch central console and bring up dashboard from Manza range.

it means that 1.2 safire is only available in terra and aqua model. then 1.4 safire must be in aura ABS and aura plus variants.
discontinuation of tachometer and defogger is a big disappointment in aqua models.
The music system with blue 5 and USB/aux-in should remain standard on aura ABS and aura plus models, right?
and the terra plus aqua model just have a 2 din MP3 CD player for a limited period, right?

SO, it is
  • 1.2 terra safire
  • 1.2 aqua safire
  • 1.4 aura ABS safire
  • 1.4 aura plus safire
  • 1.3 QJD terra
  • 1.3 QJD aqua
  • 1.3 QJD aura ABS
  • 1.3 QJD aura plus
  • 1.4 tdi terra
  • 1.4 tdi aqua

I was waiting for the newer version of the vista. Interiors look nice. Especially, the chrome gear knob gives a nice touch. By the way, which is the variant in the above pics? The car does not have power windows.

My thoughts exactly!

BTW, @Akhilesh, any news on the pricing for the 90HP model?

They seem to be quite keen on retaining the central console, so discontinuing the tachometer in the aqua probably seemed logical to them. Doesnt make sense to me though.

From the top views, it doesnt look like the taillights have been changed. The designers are still celebrating Christmas.

The interior plastics look much better than before and finally tata is upto mark in terms of interior plastics.Hope they also get their rubber fitting problem sorted ,otherwise tatas are well engineered products.

I liked the interior color combo. Its very good. I still guess Vista is an underrated car. It should sell more as its like one of the best VFM cars available in the market. I like it more than figo as its taller than it. So Ingres & Outgres in easy. Also inside space is more than Figo. Lets see how this change does it for Vista.
