Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

Wow. This is one car that has got me and my family really excited. We're looking to replace our 10 year old Santro, and the diesel Verna is my top preference. Can't wait to know exactly what is going to be offered in India (engine options, toys inside ) and of course the price.

@sid When you say there will be a late March / early April announcement, do you mean that's when Hyundai will start accepting orders?

I initially thought these shots are taken in Korea but found otherwise upon a closer look - I can see some Arabic (I guess) on some of the pics. @Parm, any idea on the country?

Hope we get black interiors like in Russian Solaris atleast as an option. They look better than the Middle East Version.

The pics are from Saudi Arabia (KSA), the car has not yet been launched in UAE. I guess they were taken when he went to KSA for pre-launch training.

New Hyundai Verna spied in India | Autocar India

looks like ACI has some images. Looks like one of my prime grudges seems to remain: Interior quality. Although this will be too early to pass a judgement. And going by i20, the quality should have taken some kind of leap. The other grudge: Handling can only be tested in a TD.

Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

Pics from ACI website.

The engine surely is a CRDI going by the common rail injectors shown. But ACI says a 1.4? I bet on a 1.6. And one of the images show a keyless push button engine start/stop button also.

And the second image-a base model with AT.

So it seems that at least two AT trim levels could be there. And that AT is a tip-tronic. This car sounds too juicy. And the one on the right shows chrome door handles. The last pic on that webste does show a couple of black cars, but which alloys do they get? 15" or 16"? This mystery remains to be solved. So near yet so far...

Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

In the photo, a couple of posts below, i see 6 gears on the manual gear box...great...my understanding was that it will be 5+R, but its 6+R

Also, i see reverse parking sensors on the photo below, taken from AutoCAR...is it a standard fitting?...GREAT if so.

Accoding to ACI, "The top-of-the-line variant comes loaded with features like dual-tone interiors, automatic climate control, electronic folding side mirrors, parking sensors, bluetooth enabled music system, steering controls for the music system, push start/stop button and dual airbags to name a few"

Sid i think that they would launch the new avante with a 1.6 CRDI and the same 1.4 for the verna which might be a little retuned and more refined.

regarding the automatic do you think they will provide us with the old 4speed one or a new 6speed gearbox with tiptronic ?

Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

@pamishra You have very sharp eyes!Indeed 6 gears,6 th will be very tall i guess,to give good FE.So reverse is left and front?

Hyundai has hit upon the idea of deluging their cars with tons and tons of features and pricing it competively with good engines, and i think this formula is going to work well for the verna too.
