In fact, this car, once launched will increase the brand image of the Verna even more.
Thats another good reason to have changed the name. Verna has been known only for diesel while the Upcoming model has a lot better new gen petrol engines as well. This perception may linger on and the new Verna may also suffer in petrol sales.

Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

Thanks @breezydrive. After a long time Verna lovers have come out and have shown their appreciation towards 'ANHV', quite glad to see that.
Friends let us face it. None of the cars in 'C' segement is an absolute flawless product, be it Linea, Honda City, Ford Fiesta, VW Vento or SX4.
All these cars have some or other issues but still making good numbers except Linea(an excellent+ car). So let us appreciate the fact that HMIL is trying their level best to come up with a decent above average product if not THE BEST(only time will tell).
So the scoop from the master on 1st April turned out to be an actual 'April' fools day,.
Well on a serious note, even if Honda is planning to launch 'Ballade' with all the features listed by Sid, then one thing is sure, buzz around 'ANHV' & new Ford Fiesta have started giving nightmares to Honda after bitten by VW Vento. Honda may do that but the pricing of 7-10 Lacs, wo,wo, that seems highly unrealistic and will actually give me sleepless nights.

Some moments with 'ANHV':

Times of India reports this this evening:

Ind vs SL: Team India ready to roll in new sedan

CHENNAI: The members of Indian cricket team are set to drive out in all new Sedans if they lift the World Cup on Saturday.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), which is also the official 'Car Partner' of the event, on Friday announced that all the members of the Indian Cricket team will get the all-new Hyundai Verna if they manage to pull off a victory against Sri Lanka in the summit clash.

"We will be extremely delighted to felicitate the Indian cricket team with the all-new Verna much ahead of its market launch in the country. This is part of our continuous effort to bring passion to cricket," HMIL managing director and CEO Hang-Woo Park said in a statement.

"I wish team India all the very best and hope they realise the dream of the nation to win the World Cup."

The words "much ahead" still bother me! Does not give the clarity over the launch.

The hype about the ANHV has already cost Hyundai. The existing Verna sold just a paltry 489 in March. How many more months should we wait before the car finally hits the road?

By the way, which version of ANHV would you gift our players Mr. HW Park?

Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

I really like Hyundai cars and i sort of own one hyundai santro also, in Pune. Its 10 years old has never given me much trouble.

I believe the new verna is miles ahead of the old one and for me hyundai always makes well rounded cars that suit India particularly well.

But the big problem in india is that people are so used to seeing hyundais in the form of I10s and santros and I20s that they fail to see anything impressive in bigger hyundai cars. This is because majority of the people in India have a stupid brand centric attitude and for most of them buying a bigger a car than their previous hatchback becomes a status symbol issue.

But I know that the new verna will do really well and I am looking forward to the Verna Vs. Fiesta wars in the next few months. It will be really interesting.

So can we assume that, 2011 Vernas will adorn the stands during the final match?! But i feel the new Sonata would be a better incentive, to make the Indian team fight harder for the cup

Funniest comment I heard all day! The flip side is that the Lankans may now fight much harder for the fear of the Verna "Deforms" being thrust down their throats!

Uhoh - After looking at Ajay's photos, I suddenly do not like the way the car looks overall.

The front of the car does look like an i10. This could be a big negative, but with the engine options, especially in Diesel, Hyundai does seem to have a winner.

N_C - Best to wait till you see the car in flesh. But yes, the champagne colour looks messy to me.
