AWESOME PICS sid.. Much more impressive than the RB concept.

Do you know when this might get launched in India (or will it be RB that comes to India and not this)? Thanks!

For once, there is not much of quirky Korean styling or the "high on weed" smiling grill!!
Hyundai, please give me a good reason to exchange my ageing Elantra for this one.

Nice !

Good work as usual Sid !
The Interior looks good and finally we see the ACC (not seen in the RB or the Chinese Version of the Accent). If they throw in that double din (touchscreen) sound system, they can really stake a claim against the City. The handling was always an issue with the Verna and if they can figure that one out, Hyundai may give Honda some things to think about !

You are confusing the Accent/Verna/RB with the Avante/Elantra. The car in this thread will compete against the City, Vento and Linea.

@nik_kapur: I agree with you. Going through all pages of this article, I am confused with the snaps.

Here is my understanding

2011 Accent/Verna - known by different name in different regions is following

2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India-hyundaiverna128001copy.jpg

2011 Avante/Elanta

2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India-avante1_620.jpg

Is my understanding right? if yes, images posted by Sidindica are for?

Yes, the 2 pics that you have put up are of 2 different cars. Both of them will make it to India very soon. The Avante/Elantra (also previewed by Sidindica in another thread) will compete against the Civic, Laura, Corolla etc. Many of the articles on Rediff, Indiatimes, carry the wrong pictures of the cars they write about.

  • the RB is the internal codename of the C segment Hyundai sedan.
  • the car will be called as accent/ verna in various markets as the present one is continued to do so.
  • the chinese verna RB is the same car as the RB accent but with a different front end suited to chinese market, as with every chinese hyundai model which have more flashy front/ rear ends as compared to their global versions.
  • the RB will replace the verna transform in both korea and India. Now what name India will get is unknown.
  • The russian version is called as solaris as the name was chosen by the russian people in an internet poll conducted by hyundai russia.
  • india will get the same version in design as that of the accent pics that i posted in the last post of the previous page.
  • the avante/ elantra codename is MD.

The Avante looks much better.Hyundai's new design language gives more importance to front end it seems, they prefer to make it as dramatic as possible.
They should discontinue with both the Accent and the current Verna before they launch the RB and also design a smaller sedan to compete against the Indigo and Dezire

New Hyundai Cars Blog :: 2011 Hyundai Sonata, Tucson SUV, dealerships, spy shots, reviews, concept cars, sales...

Hyundai launches 2011 Accent in the South Korean market; available with two engine choices (1.4L or 1.6L GDI).

Earlier today, Hyundai introduced its 2011 Accent subcompact sedan in Korea. The all-new Hyundai Accent incorporates the automaker’s “fluidic sculpture” design language, which takes many styling cues from other Hyundai models, including the 2011 Elantra sedan, new Sonata mid-size sedan and just recently launched Hyundai ix20 MPV.

Boasting more dynamic and futuristic look, the 2011 Hyundai Accent also features far more modern powertrain technology than its predecesor.
Initially, the all-new Accent will be available with two gasoline engines, while later next year the automaker planst to roll out a diesel-powered Accent to the Korean consumers.

Available from the beginning will be the 1.4L MPI and 1.6L GDI four-cylinder engines. The 1.4 Multiport Fuel Injection -MPI engine generates 107 horsepower, while the 1.6 L Gamma GDI engine packs the best-in-segment figure of 140 horsepower. Both engines can be mated to either a 6-speed automatic transmission or six-speed manual gearbox.

According to Hyundai, the new Accent incorporates various high-end technologies and features that had never been available in a sub-compact vehicle of its size (in Korea).

The Korean-market Accent boast features such as Vehicle Stability Monitoring and Control system, navigation system with 6.5 inch LCD Screen, Eco Lamp, Push Button Start with Smart Key, leather interior, active headrests and many other premium features.

Hyundai revealed it will commence the Korean sales of its Accent 2011 before the end of this month. Sales in Russia are expected to begin in January next year, while US sales are projected to commence in the first half of 2011. The automaker also announced it plans to sell as many as 500.000 units of 2011 Accent gloabally!

I have seen this car in Hong Kong and Vietnam, it looks much better in photos then in person. (It’s a personnel Opinion)

Sid, will Indian version is the same as the Korean? Because it’s same as what i see here in HK and here it’s known as Verna not Accent. And looks like the smaller Sonata.

Going by the pics in this tread, I find that all the 3 cars (Verna, Elantra & Sonata) look very similar.

Will try to take pics over the weekend.
