Excellent work there Sid. Truthfully saying, it was seriously getting extremely confusing which is which & what is what. With these for reference, it is now crystal clear.

On that note, i do feel that is will not be wise for Hyundai to launch such similar looking models in India. Heck, even us enthusiasts were confused, just imagine a layman. No one here wants to buy a higher model when it can easily be mistaken for a lower one.

In terms of the actual topic now, the Verna (for India, Codename RB) does look good. 100 times better than the monstrosity that is the Transform (codename: Deform). Love the new agressive looking front.

Also, the Avante looks sexy. In fact, it looks wayy better than the Sonata (YF). The Avante can definately take the fight in the lower D segment. It looks way better than the now ageing (though rather well) Civic, the Corolla Altis, Laura or the Chevy Cruze.

The new accent is up on Korean website.

Guys only. The verna nameplate no longer exists in Korea.

The brochure of KDM accent:

Black looks hot! And i particularly like the muscular front end. Looks brawny. The rear looks more contemporary. Not to nitpick but if the rear was designed muscular as well, it would look like a mild version of a modern muscle car But the rear is nothing to complain about when you think that in the Indian market, most people go for contemporary styling rather than sporty or muscular.

Just hope they dont use the same "GUYS ONLY" marketing campaign here. Reminds me of the SX4 campaign "Men are back!". I mean cant they come up with anything else?

The new accent looks nice and the 1.6 CRDi is a proven powerhouse.
Now if Hyundai gets the handling and suspension correct this time, they've got a winner.
Any estimates on the Price?

BTW does anyone feel 11 lac sounds too low for the avante/elantra?

This Korean Accent RB has two engine options:
  • 1.4 petrol VVT gamma with 108 ps
  • 1.6 petrol GDI (gasoline direct injection) VVT gamma with 140 ps
  • transmission options include 5 speed manual and 6 speed automatic for both engines.

Sid, the PDF brochure of the KDM Accent says a 6 Speed AT for both engines, but a 6 speed manual for the 1.6 and a 5 speed for the 1.4.

Hopefully, they will keep the same setup for India.

Finally, a Hyundai sedan that looks promising and good enough to beat the competition. 6-speed tranny, 140 horses(?) et al, sound good on paper, but will it actually find its way into the Indian Verna? And considering that a top-end i20 would cost somewhere in the region of 7-8 lakhs, I doubt if Hyundai would be able to keep the price of this new Verna on the lower side.

Looks more similar to the Avante also the engine options are the same. It would be great to have both the models here as the new verna/accent and Avante taking the place of Elantra. The design is catchy indeed, more striking than the outgoing models.

So what's the word on the diesel.
I think it's a relatively safe assumption we'll get one in India, but will it be the exact same 1.6 CRDi as the current verna?

man! that new accent is quite a looker. It has a lot of character, and seems a li'l bit inspired from the Evo.
Is it headed for India at all? I guess with the current Verna receiving such a poor response (but obviously), they probably will prep this one for the shores of India.

The car looks beautiful ! Do i feel a lot of resemblence in the headlight between the verna / accent in the pics above with the new i10 ? And no diesel mentioned ?

And also looks like the blue illumination is becoming a Hyundai standard in all vehicles.

So could any one tell me which other market shares almost the same specifications as India for any manufacturer?

Off topic
: Has any one compared the blue illumination in i20 with the previous orange color? I basically feel the orange was better looking. Please note that I have not seen either blue or orange lights in person, but have seen those in the websites only !

i have driven this Sonata (US market) extensively last week.

its very good to drive. the interior is of very premium quality.
the looks are awesome too.

but the sheet metal is flimsy. when i shut the door the i can see the sheet metal wobbling. it has no support from inside the doors.

While I did not like the proportions of some of these models, I must say that the Sonata looks quite nice. Also, finally, Hyundai has got its "family" look well sorted out and this new bunch of Hyundais will be quite distinctive.

Proportions can make a lot of difference, IMO. The current Camry on sale in India is a looker, but the Corolla Altis, having the same styling cues, looks a little lost to me.
