The min ground clearance of 147mm looks a tad low, since the previous generation one has a clearance of 170mm. Hopefully the specs are as per the setup for international edition. I guess they will raise it keeping the Indian road conditions in mind.

Looking more juicy...great pics kalinga! the first pic shows me a 16" alloy design plus a rear disc brake! Come on and you ought to tell me that the alloy wheel design is the same in the pic below!

OT: Which car were you driving? I can see reflection of beige interiors. Looks to me like city.

And an automatic transmission as well! But, surprised to see a rear disc brake in the package!

Looks really tall for a sedan though! Similar to SX4!

The crease line makes it tall, its petty low, the brochure claims to be even lower than the current Indian verna.

Any updates on what R&D has happened on the handling front?
That would really be the icing!

How can the GC be 147 mm; Solaris in Russia has a ground clearance of 160 mm, they should have retained the same.

Given the Indian conditions, I would expect any manufacturer to increase the height than the global versions when they launch cars in India. I doubt 147mm will be the actual GC - it might scrape anywhere and everywhere !

GC will be 170 mm.

This thread was dying a premature death so thought to....
  • 1.4 petrol, 5 MT
  • 1.6 gamma petrol, 6 MT/ 4 AT
  • 1.6 U2 diesel, 6 MT/ 4 AT.
Trim levels unknown. Info may be subject to change.

Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

Im following this thread with great interest and information received so far seems to be pretty good. I can only hope the ride and handling part has been taken care of - Any pointers from reviews from other countries on the ride and handling part?

Sid - There were posts talking about Feb 24 launch date, which i think is not realistic. Any indications on the proposed launch date? Are the dealerships still taking bookings for the verna transform?

Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

Had a talk with Sanjay Hyundai in Pune, the sales rep said they usually get an intimation 2 months before launch of a new car and they didnt get any such intimation yet. So its definitely not March or April. When asked he said it will be launched somewhere around July / mid 2011. HEART BREAKING :(

Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

With acceptable ride and handling this car will beat the crap of all other cars including the Vento.
It is:-
A diesel!!
Has close to 130 bhp!!
6 speed MT!!
Hyundai A.S.S!
What else can 1 ask for if priced sensibly. Please provide the Airbags this time.

Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

Parktronic aside, the top model will surely have dual airbags and all wheel disc brakes, plus a standard reverse camera with centre IRVM display. Launch is confirmed for March/April timeframe. Not 24th feb.
