Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

I think these are the most happening times for the C segment in India. The Verna RB 2011 & the Fiesta 2011 have been stealing the show all this while & Fiat is slowly trying to make a back door entry. The much awaited Linea with 1.6L Multijet under its hood is going to hit the Indian roads in the next two months time if the news on Carblogindia is to be believed. Also the much talked about Auto Transmission with Dual logic (though with the 1.3L engine) is also on the radar. Refer the link below:

I called up a local dealer here in Noida to get more details. The lady who answered the phone said that it is for a new i10.

Re: 2011 Hyundai Verna (RB) Edit: Now spotted testing in India

Finally Hyundai has come up with new Verna teaser ads.

saw the TOI Delhi edition (5th page) stating 'new thinking coming alive soon'. Also they have started bookings for new Verna.

Checked the teaser website New Thinking Comes Alive

They are up for registration, started a 'Get thinking with Hyundai campaign'. Also included auto mags comments on new Verna.

All thses preperations indicated that they are gearing up for new Verna launch.

Way to Go Hyundai........

I called up the Trident Hyundai near Marathalli and the sales guy accepted that this is for the new Verna. In fact he was selling it to me that this car is great in terms of looks etc etc.

He also said that the car will be launched in the 2nd week of May and i can do the test drive etc after that.

I have told him i want to book the car and to avoid the rush after it's launched i wish to book the high end (1.5 Diesel) now itself. He is going to check with his seniors and Hyundai and get back to me in a couple of days.

If he is positive i will book the car RIGHT AWAY

A general question on Verna Handling:

Does the much talked about "bad" Verna Handling is all at speeds > 100Kmph or, even at 70-100 but at corners?
Can someone clarify?
I am a bit surprised to read about Verna's handling aspect ( being bad). I had an Accent Viva Crdi for 3+years and then exchanged it for a Verna Sx(ABS with all four disc brakes). No doubts that while comparing it with Accent Crdi, in some aspects Accent felt a bit better than Verna eg Steering feedback and instant pick up and acceleration. However, had no issues in adapting to the changes in a positive way to be able to exploit verna as well fully on city ways as well highways. In terms of comfort - Verna was way ahead( imho) for driver as well as rear seat drivers. Headlight was only thing I felt that needed to be changed while Viva's hedlight in stock condition was manageable for night driving. This had perhaps something to do with the angle of the front windshield and its transparency.

As far as turbo lag is considered- I didnt feel any- since, engine revvs easily and one knows where the rpm needle needs to be. Now a few bargains for a ~9.5 OTR car that used to take me from CIDCO flyover at Navi Mumbai to Wakad junction at Pune in 1hr was not too bad. 18+ lakh skoda dsg(PDI engine) needed engine tuning, dynamic air box and cat back exhaust kit at approx 1 lakh additional , to be able to do same thing. Of course, confidence level and sense of security and comfort of driving due to xenon light, DSG etc. is leagues ahead.

As per the spec sheets, Verna 1.6 Crdi is on my radar and I am sure it will be a great buy in its budget.

Glad to hear that you didnt give her a piece of mind for her attempt to throw a bucketful of cold water on enthusiasm. Call her up again and see if response has changed a bit or not. This time it could be for new i20.

Thanks for the information. Can you confirm if 1.3L multijet engine as mentioned in the article actually comes in diesel one? If so, I'll wait for this Linea. Currently, Verna is the only diesel automatic that comes under 11.5L OTR bangalore. If Linea comes with diesel auto around 11L OTR, I'll consider buying this car.

I didn't buy earlier Verna diesel AUTO beacuse it didn't have airbags even after paying 11L for the car. The other Diesel auto cars cost above 16L OTR in bangalore such Cruze, Skoda etc.

Its bad that they provide Automatic trans only in top variant (O). Why not in base and SX variants? 1.6 diesel SX (o) automatic will easily be 12L plus OTR in bangalore.
