The 50,000th Ford Figo being flagged off was sighted by me today at Hotel Pride, Nagpur.Mr Nigel E. Wark, Executive Director (Marketing, sales and service) Ford India was present at the event and flagged off the car.
I was at the Hotel for some other work and seeing a Figo diesel with some graphics on its body and a huge crowd around it, I could know what the reason was.
After all, as a automobile lover I can't ignore such a major event and thats what made me spend a while with the crowd there.

Lovely. Another one is lined up behind the 50,000th so is it 50,001 lol. Good to see Ford is doing well.

That sticker job looks pathetic!!!

Whoa!!! How come a TN registered Figo been sold at Nagpur? Yes, the sticker looks little odd, but for sure its grabs an attention.

agree:.

But, nevertheless, Ford sure is gaining mileage!! Goes on to show that the market has received the small car well. 50k units in what, less than an year?Must say its unprecedented success to the blue oval.Surely, its honeymoon period.

Kudos to Ford India for reaching this milestone in around 6 months. AFAIK it took 4 years for them to attain this on the Fiesta.

I'm seeing a lot of Figos now on Hyd roads. Looks like people have reposed faith in Ford cars in India, going by the success of the Fiesta. It was a different story with the Escort and Ikon.

The stickers really look odd on that car. That apart, I'm not too impressed with the front looks of the Figo. While the Fiesta looked damn hot with the narrowed front grill in the later models, the same feature on the new Ikon and the Figo look pathetic.

Good catch Anjan. The team-bhp net is far and wide. Nothing can escape.

Probably 50000 in the production line and suitably allocated to someone in Nagpur. Also it might have required registration before going out of the state.

Wonder why they didnt allocate one in Chennai itself. Something special in Nagpur?

Well, if it has to go out of state, there're only 2 ways...
1. Transport via big trucks as how the cars are delivered from plant to dealers
2. Drive it on the road using TMP registration. Remember, to get it registered in TN & deliver it in Nagpur, the owner has to buy the car in his name using his Chennai address proof.

Excellent achievement by FORD. They have worked really hard on making the FIGO the hit that it is.

Each and every part has contributed to its success. The three piece rear view mirror is an example where you can just replace the part that is broken instead of replacing the entire assembly

The basis of the FIGO's success is the FUSION and the lessons it taught FORD. Similar to the lessons learnt from the VERSA that helped it bring out the EECO

first time i have bought a high volumes car,the FIGO

Ford definitely deserves credit for their marketing. The other thing is they are tomtoming the success of their car so enthusiastically. Compare it to Punto/Beat/JAZZ etc which are all relatively new cars but where are the ads celebrating the 50000 count for them? They would have reached it sometime back i guess but it's just marketing or lack of marketing.

The Figo's resounding success must have been a super surprise for Ford themselves and I really hope they bring even more such products of mass appeal which strike the perfect balance of affordability and performance. Now when is that cheap, superb 1.6 Figo coming??

It's good to see Ford achieving a milestone such as this. They have given cars with excellent dynamics time and again; but they also threw in a lot of value with the Figo. Now that I am in the market for a nice driving hatch, would love to see a Figo 1.6S by Jan'11 :D

I hope the DESIs have seen the writing on the wall and read it too.
