Yes. I think that's what the pic is trying to show also. AFAIK, because its body-on-frame it can be separated.

You unscrew all the bolts that connect the body to the chasis then you lift the body out.

I guess the new Scorpio is still in the drawing board as there has been no test mules spotted. The first test mule of XUV was caught in 2009, and it finally went into production in 2011. I dont think it will be introduced anytime before 2014.

My only question is - How safe is the scorprio now if the screws are not tightened back properly?

All LOF vehicles are manufactured the same way and there is a prescribed torque for these nuts and bolts.
Also, the mechanics know that this is crucial piece of work and hence is done carefully. I have not seen or heard of a body falling off a chassis till date, from any vehicle.

Mahindra starts work on all-new Scorpio

ACI report on the new Scorpio project, which has been started in Chennai labs of the manufacturer:

Mahindra starts work on all-new Scorpio - News - Autocar India

Expected features/ upgrades:
a. Lengthened wheelbase, to liberate more room for second row (probably for the third row & may be luggage as well);
b. 140bhp Mhawk;
c. Lighter in weight, leading to better fuel economy.

AutoCar: Mahindra starts work on all-new Scorpio

Quote:
Mahindra & Mahindra has begun working on an all-new Scorpio, codenamed W105. The current Scorpio, now almost 10 years old, is widely credited as being the SUV that created modern-day Mahindra & Mahindra, and though the current car continues to sell well, a new model has been deemed essential for future success...

Sadly, the link says nothing about when this project is likely to bear fruit. But I do hope it is sooner rather than later.

re: Mahindra starts work on all-new Scorpio

This is good news, considering new launches in the compact SUV category, Mahindra has timed it well. Hope Mahindra sticks to the Scorpio legacy and does not overdress the new model and make it look out of place! Just like what TVS has done with the new Apache RTR!!

re: Mahindra starts work on all-new Scorpio

After 10 years, they are 'starting' work on the new version?
Isn't it too late already?

I like what Honda has been doing with the City - a brand new City after every 6 years.

Re: Mahindra starts work on all-new Scorpio

In US, the Product Lifecycle of any automobile i.e from Conception-Production is the least for Honda - 3 years! Get this - GM had the worst - 7years! This is a few years ago, I'm sure they would have improved on it lately.
Now the Indian market maturing nicely on the last couple of years, Indian automakers are trying to catch up with this. I'm glad at least they thought of a rejig given the current model has a decent run.

Re: Mahindra starts work on all-new Scorpio

The Autocar Show on tv was stating that the new product would be ready around 2014. After all its just a major refresh of the same product and not a new product altogether. They will be upgrading the Scorpio's Chassis, Suspension. The only thing all new will be the body that sits on the updated Chassis. The word is that the body will be much longer and wider than the current size to silence critics who say the interiors are too small.

Re: Mahindra starts work on all-new Scorpio

It will be good to see what M&M will do for all the interiors as well. There is lot left to be desired for the monies spent on a new Scorpio!

Good Luck- M & M

Discussed in detail here.
I had gone to Nasik last weekend and spotted a couple of Rextons (1 White and 1 Black) near the last toll naka before Nasik and they were headed towards Bombay. Initially I mistook them for well maintained old Mercedes Benz M class SUVs but managed to see the name of the huge chrome strip on the boot. They didn't look as bad as they do in the pictures and looked as if they can comfortably accommodate 7 adults.

Re: Mahindra's new launches for 2011-2012

Guys, any news on the next generation Bolero? When the current generation Bolero was launched, they mentioned that soon they'll launch it with ABS and Airbags.
