Re: Renault Koleos

I have lifted this brochure from Australian site. Looks interesting!

There's a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty as well - which I am sure will not come here.

Re: Renault Koleos

super vehicle. that split tailgate is really handy!
lovely SUV but unfortunately it is going to be expensive at 24-26 lacs on road when it comes.
thats the main hassle. I just dont feel like spending such cash for what is after all, at a basic level, a depreciating piece of machinery with gizmos.
Might buy one used after 3 more years perhaps - if a good one comes down the pike!

Re: Renault Koleos

Indiancarbikes.in reports that the Koleos launch is on Sept 8.

Renault Koleos launch on September 8th! | IndianCarsBikes.in

Seems interesting to me if priced well.

Cheers,

Re: Renault Koleos

Here's the Koleos brochure from the Renault India web-site.

Renault - KOLEOS

Click on "Request a brochure" link - couldn't attach it here as the file size exceeds the 3 MB limit.

After being driven away by Jetta's pricing of DSG variant, my search for a good diesel AT draws me to the Koleos, though it's a different segment.

Cheers,

Re: Renault Koleos

IMHO, the front looks very similar to the SantaFe. Also the features the website mentions like intelligent 4x4 and Bose Sound system may push the price of this vehicle into the SantaFe/Fortuner/X1 territory.

I sincerely wish they price this vehicle very well, may be in the range of 16 or 17 on road maximum with all bells and whistles. Renault atleast for indian consumer does not have the same brand value as BMW or a Merc (Market perception) yet. So if they price anything above 16, it will be a market dud. Even at 16L OTR, I feel that there will be very few takers for this vehicle.

I like the split tailgate in this though.

Re: Renault Koleos

Pricing looks on a higer side. And when there are many options around (Fortuner, Ford Endy etc) 18 lakhs seems too much.

However can't say anything about Indian consumer. If people are ready to shell out 11+ lakhs for Fluence, which doesnt not even come with a auto climate feature (diesel) and shares same engine as Logan, who knows even Koleos might aswell sell!!!

OT - I remember there was a time around 10-15 years back spotting a Audi, BMW, Mercs and super cars etc was a rare occasion and we used to drool over. Nowadays these cars have become very "common ". Theres so much of money around, so I wouldn't be surprised if koles would also be a hit.

Then you should buy a Tucson.
Tucson also has the split tail gate and it's not only an impressive feature, but also a very useful one.

BTW, if Koleos comes with the X-trail quality AT at around 16 lakh or so, it will be a very tempting option.

Correction dear friend -

Tucson's mechanism - The rear windshield is hinged (to the tailgate itself) at the top and swings-open upwards (these hinges are visible outside). Otherwise, the entire hatch door/tailgate swings-open. This type is also found on the old CR-V.

Koleos - Lower tailgate and upper tailgate are separate and swing-open below and above respectively. This is like the ones found on Land Rovers and Range Rovers.

That's why there was a smiley .

But seriously, one big pain in many SUV's is the hard and long travelling clutch. The AT in X-Trail is mind blowing (as jerk-free as a DSG). Wish they offer the same on Koleos and at much better price.

Re: Renault Koleos

Koleos will hit the showroom at around 18-20 lacs.
I think the minimum on road price one can expect in Bangalore would be in the range of 23-26 lacs approx.
hence I just might, as you suggest, go for an used Tuc -provided of course I can find a good one at the right price.
cheers

Ah I see.

The X-trail has a CVT. Koleos and X-Trail share the same engine and going by that, the Koleos might have the same CVT. The pictures from Renault's fb page shown above show the Koleos with a manual tranny. Is that coming?

Does Bangalore OTR price add 5-7 lakhs to a 18 lakh vehicle? That is rather insane!

Re: Renault Koleos

Thanks RavenAvi for sharing the brochure.

the equipment list looks very good, and the question now is Price.

where they position it pricewise is going to decide the success.

Re: Renault Koleos

take the case of Yeti
It costs 16.95 + 77334 for Skoda Shield/ Insurance etc + 333303 for Road Taxes resulting in the OTR BLR price of 21.05 lacs.
Road Taxes here are 18.87% + Handling charges too.
If therefore the Koleos costs 18 -20 lacs ex showrooom, then the Road Taxes alone will be another 3.5-4 lacs or so as you can see. Plus the insurance, extended warranty etc will result in the OTR price of about 25lacs at least.
Horrible. But there we are!
