Honda sales are down a lot!
332 for Jazz is way too low and I thought the sales are picking up given the number of Jazz I see on the road!
Feel bad being a fellow owner!

Great work, bblost! Thanks! One interesting point to note is that Maruti is the only manufacturer with positive change for every single model in your list. Every other manufacturer has at least one model going down. Amazing results for Maruti!

Come on, don't feel bad. Think of guys like me. I am a Palio owner which is selling at about 25 cars per month, which itself is a big miracle

Really feeling sorry for Nano numbers as its much capable than its number suggest. Actually its troubled right from day one from political turmoil to waiting periods. fiery issues added oil to fire and now price rise.

I am also interested to know the bifurcation of alto numbers into alto 800 and alto K10.
The comparison of alto K10 Numbers with Estilo numbers will prove or disprove the feeling 'K10 is the real successor of ZEN and not Estilo.'

Chevrolet
UVA : 322, Aveo : 399, Optra : 333. Its time for Chevy to bring in new UVA and Aveo which they already showcased some part of the world. I wonder what they are going to fit in the gap between Aveo and Cruz if they decide to take off Optra? I think a better spec. read as top variant of new Aveo will bridge the gap. C'mon Chevy bring in 1.5/1.6ltr diesel in the game.

Nissan
Micra : 1062. These numbers don't look good for a Japanese small car!!

Tata
Aria : 344. Looks good for a 12L Tata.
Nano : 3065. Does not look good.

Honda
Jazz : 332. Honda will be happy about these numbers. Meeting expectations!!

Here are my 2 cents:

• Spark is due for a facelift I guess. ( Especially now that beat , sadly, seems unlikely to be getting the numbers); Ditto for Santro. It deserves a facial!

• 40.5 K tall boys sold this Oct! ( WaronR+ i10+ Santro). That makes it the biggest volume fetching category – Tall Small car;

• I believe that there is a case for Hyundi to get something like an i1 (advertising as I WON!!) into the game ( 800 CC engine, i10 like space and design – tall boy a must, beige interiors, EPS!). That will give the Aulto a run for its money! There is no tall boy in the Aulto-800 segment.

• i20, Bolero ( and even the Accent) – Chak de phatte!!

• Around 60% of the Big SUV section went to Fortuner! What a car!  ( fortuner actually sells more than Corolla! Noticed for the 1st time!)

• Vento to give serious competition to City in 4 months time! For sure!

Optra Sales Oct 2010

Being owner of Optra Magnum, I have been tracking sales figures since Jul 2010. It is interesting to note that Optra's sales have improved from under in Jul 2010 to 300+ in matter of 3 months.

Yes, the recent price slash would have given bump to sales. GM India- it's high time to market your Optra correctly than just slash prices or phasing out the product, also slashed prices impact existing owner's sentiment/loyalty.

As of today, Optra is bought by consumers and not sold by dealers.

I think optra is the more reliable of two models or atleast perceived so in the Overseas market. I read somewhere on web; in China, they sell more Optras (Name Excelle in China) than cruze, roughly 2:1.

Nice to see the numbers so soon GTO, it makes a huge difference seeing these numbers on day one of the month instead of waiting for half a month, my two cents of observation.

Great numbers there by Figo, i20 and Fortuner, given the fact that higher numbers from Maruti is no news, nowadays.
Sad to see that GM though they have such a big range of vehicles they still dont seem to have got the trick right, unlike Ford. But they have done it right only with Cruze.
VW slowly but steadily making its presence felt, first subtly with Polo and now with Vento, for sure the later is going to beat Polo, and will surely come close to City.

Finally very disappointed to know that MSIL despite making such good sales is making only 5% increase in profit. Its like you are getting greedy and eating the hand thats feed you.
If this state continues god save Maruti (not suzuki)

Jai Hanuman (Maruti I mean)

Maruti Maruti..all the way!

Though I am not a fan of Maruti ( Reasons not meant to be stated in this thread), good to see the numbers.

Honda sales down. All models in negative. Honda City...the bread and butter of Honda India, is down by almost 2000. Vento effect someone!

Vento numbers up by a marginal 250+. However, I know umpteen number of people are waiting for their Vento's delivery in the Nov-Jan period. I guess the Vento numbers will cross the coveted 2k mark very soon, especially the diesel Vento. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE GAP BETWEEN CITY AND VENTO DOWN TO 1-1.5K MARK. Honda guys should be sweating and reduce the prices by 40-50 k in panic. I am not being devilish in my thoughts here. Just that I dont like the "Take it or leave it" attitude of Honda sales guys.

Common Fiat...its high time now. How I would love to see T-Jet resurrecting the Fiat sales. Simply the most beatiful car in its segment, with not so beautiful sales figures.

I am focusing on the C segment, since that is where my next car comes from.

City: 4316
SX4:1977
Verna: 1928
Fiesta: 1283
Linea: 700

My prediction for the month of December:
City: 5000+
Vento: 3500+
Linea: 1500+
SX4/Fiesta: 1200+

- Nice to see Punto well above 1000 levels ! Hope Linea too sits around the 1000 mark.

- Looks like nothing can stop the Cruze! Corolla has gone below the 1k mark, Hope Toyota has an alternative diesel engine for Altis post Etios launch . Laura sales have tumbled ? Any particular reason apart from A.S.S?

- Looks like Vento will maintain 1800-2000 mark until waiting period issue is solved . Nice to see Polo maintaining above 2k mark. Though i hope we get a 1.2 TSI plonked in it in near future atleast.

- Jazz is back to 300 levels ! Only option for Honda seems to be to pull a Skoda Fabia facelift and price it at realistic levels.

- Superb has rightly being ruling over Accord for quite sometime and more surprising it has sold more than the Laura

- Maruti definitely needs a replacement for the Estilo & A-Star. Sales of both these cars combined are almost half of Wagon R sales.

In fact, Punto numbers (which by the general perception have always been poor) don't look so bad anymore because it is still handsomely outselling Jazz and Fabia.

Linea numbers are a real concern, and there is a real danger for Fiat that even with T-jet, the total Linea sells may hover around 1000 or a tad below 1000. Sad to see this happening to such a nice car!
-24 Linea inspite of T-jet launch is a concern.
+398 for Punto shows some hope.
I think FIAT has to come up with aggressive marketing showing classic features of Punto/Linea.
Launch of T-jet was on 19th(hardly 11 days for sales) in selected cities, therefore I feel from next month the real picture of T-jet response will come out. But my guess, T-jet will kill existing 1.4P/1.3D numbers and finally total will be same.
Please wake up FIAT !!!!

p.s. Billing of my Linea was done on 30th Oct'10. So 699+1= 700.

@ GTO

could you please clarify if the figures quoted are dispatches or retails?

I ask only because you mention in your August report "cars moved off showroom floors"
