I don't really buy this. There are other brands of cars where people have added foreign electrical accessories. Have'nt heard them going up in smoke.

And there have been 2 incidents of Nano's going up in smoke en route to delivery to customers. These were not Demo cars, but brand new cars, with no mods.

Call it a recall or anything else, its a good thing that the Tata's are atleast doing something about rectifying their mistake. Hope the solution helps stop/reduce such incidents. Overall, the Nano is a good car for its price, and it would be a shame for it to fail on account of an issue which could be fixed with a few fuses etc....

Also when you buy "NEW" car ,"USED FOR DEMO" can be considered new?

Or the person bought "DEMO" car? If not don't you think it is cheating??
Or is it common practice to pass demo cars as new?
In most dealerships, it seems to be the "common practice" to pass the demo/test drive/ test vehicles to unsuspecting customers. That is why most tbhpians rely on the PDI checklist and VIN decoding to determine the registration timestamp of the VIN.

Got a message today from Tata Motors:

Quote:
Please ignore misleading media reports dtd 10th Nov'10 on Nano recall. Your car is completely safe. We are planning a campaign after 3 weeks to fit additional protection on Nano. This information will be available in due course through our dealers, website and toll-free number.
Looks like they are really playing-up this recall/upgrade yoyo.

Instead of denying a recall, couldn't they spin this to give an angle
"Tata, Customers safety comes first, reputation comes second".
That might imo earn them some more respect than the denial card they're playing now.
