Re: GM's new engine plant at Talegaon, MH

@Rehaan,

Thanks a ton for the wonderful pics. Sail look good from the side profile looking forward earnestly for a review. I hope the Sail revives the sagging fortunes of GM in India. Would the same manufacturing set up be used for Sail Hatchback and MPV building?

What happened to the GM Halol plant in Gujarat?

Would have liked the pics to put all the speculation at rest.
Just came across this slide. It might hold another clue, as it says "in the pipeline"...

It very much still exists, and as per their statement, it produces the Spark, Aveo & U-VA, Optra, Tavera, Captiva, as well as light commercial vehicles.

That's what is required to sustain in India. Chevy has learnt correct lessons under Mr. Sym. Carl will be missed badly @GM India.

Under New Production in Pipeline they mention 1.3L SDE FGT (RWD) is Sail sedan going to have rear wheel drive or they plan to use it to some other car?

Nope, the Sail sedan will be FWD too.

You'll notice the RWD layout mentioned also says "CN100" in brackets.

That refers to the upcoming Chevy Enjoy (GM-Wuling CN-100).

Rehaan, how is the production carried out in this engine plant? Is it batch production (build to stock) or they follow the lean way (build to schedule) ?

I'm really not sure vvijay. I don't know too much about this stuff, but my guess would be some sort of mix of the two!
