Swift DDIS Booking amount reduced

Yesterday I got a call from local Maruti Dealer regarding booking of Swift VDI. He said that booking amount has been reduced to Rs 5000/- only in comparison to Rs 50,000/- which was earlier the minimum booking amount . The waiting period is three and half months. Now the question is that why have they done that?. Is the new swift ready to be launched or what. There must be something fishy. Experts advise is solicited.

New Swift is not coming before mid 2011. But this is a drastic drop in booking price. Maybe because of plenty of other options available nowadays!? But just wait for a couple of days to see if others dealers follow suit!

I think so the Figo and new i20 has got a huge chunk of the swift market now. Hyundai is selling 7600+ i20s for the last two months.

They're feeling the heat from the robust competition this year.

Yes, MUIL feeling the heat. But, this is also a great chance for them to bounce back. After all, this is a tempting deal!

^^^ I think we are talking about Swift, not Ritz here. The booking amount of Ritz was always 5k or less. Even sometime back at Hyd, we used to get Ritz DDIS off the shelf.

I am not sure, there are still no discounts on the Swift coupled with high waiting period, 5 months for a VDI + ABS variant in Chennai

The booking amount was 5000 only , the inflation is done at the dealers end.

My guess is new Swift will be launched only after the waiting period of current Swift gets reduced considerably

No matter how much MSIL reduces the booking amount on the Swift, the delivery period is still a major drawback. Probably this is the reason for the market share of swift coming down heavily in the last few months. Countering the fall with reduced booking amount is not the correct solution which MSIL should be looking for.

Another drawback of reduced booking amount is lesser interest earned by Maruti till the delivery period, why would they be doing that since till date they used to pocket good amount in interest part only.

I do not think there was any fixed booking amount as it is. Dealers here were accepting anything from 1000 to 50k as booking amount depending on the customer's wish. So if any dealer was charging a certain amount, I think it was purely their decision.

The booking amount has been reduced or not, this is definitely a great news to hear that Swift has finally taking the beating. I still remember the time when I bought my car - there was zilch competition - read as Getz CRDi.

Infact If I had to make a choice today, most probably I would have chosen the Figo. Having said that, I am completely happy with the DDiS and am enjoying every drive - what a machine to own !

I have both Figo and Swift. I prefer Swift If I drive, it is a pleasure to drive. Figo is if someone else drives

Even i paid just 10k as the booking amount and this was last year.
It all depends on the dealer.
