Anyone has any information on why they are doing these drives. Are they planning to launch this car anytime soon ?

Renault-Mahindra JV ended a long time back. The new cars are being launched by the Renault-Nissan alliance. They plan to launch the Fluence sometime in 2011.

Bullish about the Indian auto sector, French carmaker Renault is planning to launch two new models in India by 2011 on its global platforms, Renault Fluence and Renault Koloes.

"Renault is moving aggressively to set the stage for the launch of their cars in India," a company official told Mail Today. "Renault will introduce the "Fluence" Luxury sedan by May 2011, followed by "Koloes" (4x4 Crossover) by October 2011," the official said. Apart from that, Renault, by 2013, will follow a full range of cars from the global portfolio. This will include three more cars , which includes a small hatchback as well.

This car would work best competing against the Linea,Vento and upcoming Fiesta,if priced at around 8-10L.Dont thin there will be much takers for it in the 12l "luxury" market.

I saw this car on the Bangalore Chennai highway on 22/12/10. There was one black and one white (both diesel from the look of the emission when changing gears).

I have a Getz CRDI and had a lot of trouble keeping up with these cars. I hope they bring the 110 hp models to India.

Boy the C/C+ segment is heating up! Another car to look forward to, although the homologation may have just started and the car may take some time to hit showrooms?

First impressions on exteriors - Tail lamp cluster from a Audi A4, boot and side profile from a Linea, front fender in profile from SX4, instrumentation from Civic, front like nothing else, a lot of French flair and a badge from the Logan

With the Logan episode behind it, Renault India is making a more concentrated attempt to get it right this time. Starting with the launch of the Fluence, a large sedan with the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla as competition, by the middle of this year, followed by the Koleos SUV by the end of the year, Renault is looking at a top-down strategy for India.

These two cars will be followed by three more by the end of 2012 or the beginning of 2013. One is a four-wheel drive SUV, the Duster, while the other two – a hatchback and a sedan – will be spun off the V-platform Renault shares with Nissan. The latter currently sells the Micra and will soon introduce the Sunny by the middle of this year; both cars utilise the V-platform. With these five cars, Renault hopes to be a volume player in India. The Duster will also be exported.

“We want to be among the top 10 manufacturers in India by 2013,” said Jerome Stoll, executive vice president, sales & marketing, Renault. He was speaking on the sidelines of the Geneva Motor Show, where Renault has showcased two concept cars that indicate the kind of look its cars will have in the future.

Renault is also mulling a new small car, their sixth model in the country, to be introduced by 2013 or 2014, to operate in the segment dominated by the Maruti Suzuki Alto. “We will be using resources from India, which is more than just engineering, in the development of this car,” said Stoll. The new car is independent of the low-cost car that Bajaj is developing, which will be marketed by Renault. “We haven’t seen the car yet. Bajaj is yet to show it to us. We will decide on what changes the car may need only when we see it,” said Stoll.

I wish they would bring this front end on the Indian car as opposed to the ugly face it has on the cars spied in India. With a face like the one here attached, i feel it would find many more takers.

One thing for sure is Renault will have an uphill task trying to sell these cars.
1. First its name is already associated by many people with the cheap Logan, it would be difficult to makeover themselves as a costly brand.
2. Again, coming into the market with a dealer presence as good as nothing is not going to be easy. They are gonna be behind even people like Mitsubhishi in terms of recognition.
3. with no entry vehicle gaining a so called foothold is not easily possible.
Only way out for them is to play the cost game, else it will end up being a namesake launch.
