Boy oh boy! On the way to the office I was following a new black A8 L from Moolchand till Oberoi Hotel. Wow! What a car? It was amazing to watch the monster zipping easy thorough b2b Delhi traffic.

Now that we have the entire line up including the W12, when does the 4.2 TDI come in? Also would anyone here be able to post the entire spec sheet of all variants and what are the standard features in each?

And does Audi have plans to integrate the HUD in the A8? A strange omission for a flagship car, and when does Audi India start Navigation system integration? it's long over due?

I still cant get over the looks. Very well done Audi. You've taken the battle right to the doors of S and 7. Kudos to you.

Saw one the other day on the streets, and honestly the car has the looks to kill. Words fail me to describe this gorgeous piece of machine.

Brilliant of Audi to get this to India, I assume by the time this comes in even the S300 SWB will be out in India?

SWB A8 in 4.2TDI would be some car to own, but the prices mentioned on that link look like they are too low unless the difference between Ahmedabad and Delhi is so much, Ahmedabad Ex-Showroom for A8 3.0TDI is about 79 Lac.

Any info on when the S8 will come in? Does Audi India have plans to get it? The new 4.0 Engine is a marvel with cylinder de-activation.

I think they would launch it to compete with the 760li etc. SWB is a good idea, for a self driven car of that segment.

Even cars like the Accord V6 have cylinder deactivation, so nothing new on that regard.

Agreed the cylinder deactivation is nothing new, even the S500 in 1999-2002 had it, but I mean this entire new engine developed by Audi / Bentley jointly is a marvel I mean do take a look at the link below it takes a car like the A8 from 0-100 in 4.2!

I mean it has 650Nm of torque from 1750 - 5000 RPM, thats a wonderful powerband for a petrol engine.

A8 V8 TDI may be launching soon (3rd of August):

We've heard rumours of the V8-powered diesel A8 coming soon to the Indian market, so we gave Audi a call and asked them if they were true. The company wasn't willing to confirm or deny it; however, they did say that there will be an announcement made soon.
What we expect will be in the announcement is the inclusion of the 4.2 TDI-powered A8 in the Indian lineup. The engine is available in the Q7 full-size SUV with 340PS and a mind-numbing 760Nm of torque. We expect these figures to shrink a little for the A8 to 346bhp and 590Nm like in the European models, since the A8 doesn't have to lug around as much weight as the Q7 does. Audi claims that the A8 4.2 TDI will get to 100kmph in 5.5 seconds - quick enough to outrun almost all machinery on our roads, thanks to the new ZF 8-speed automatic - and is limited to 250kmph.
The inclusion of the 4.2 TDI will round out the A8 range nicely - it will become the 'performance' version of the A8 and offer the benefits of diesel as well. However, don't expect it to come cheap. It will slot above the 4.2 FSI in the A8 range.
In the unlikely event that the 4.2 TDI isn't on its way here, Audi could also be preparing to announce the revamped 3.0 TDI, which is lighter, cleaner and was just announced in other markets around the world. The 3.0 TDI is currently the mainstay of the A8 and Q7 models in the Indian market.

Edit: We have confirmation that the 4.2 TDI is the engine that Audi will be launching.

Isn't that a lot of difference? More than 50% more power and torque. OTOH, in India, how does it matter?

I had read somewhere in this forum itself (I think in Q7 thread, posted by sidindica) that 4.2 TDI is actually more efficient and less polluting than 3.0 TDI! If I remember right, even Q7 no longer comes with 3.0 TDI.
