Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Hi Bhpians,

I am looking to purpose a 2015 S-Cross (1.3 Zeta) - Directly from the owner.
The said car has completed 44,XXX kilometers has full service history with Sai-Service Maruti (Pune). Owner is quoting INR 6,10,000. He isnt ready to negotaite & ready to bear the transfer cost as well.

Car condition is good with minor paint scrapping & stone chips. Insurance is valid till Sept 2023. Last service was in Nov'22 @ 42,000 kilometers.

Is this a good deal?

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Hi BHPians

What should be a fair price for a 2017 Linea Tjet, Its done 49XXX kms, 2nd Owner.

The mechanicals seem in a good condition while the exteriors are lightly scuffed.

The owner has quoted 4.5 on here in the classifieds, however I spotted his ad on OLX where he's quoted 4.15

I would have loved to get this car in 5.5Lakh, but the owner is not selling in less than 5.7Lakh. He has a quote from cars24 of around 5.4 L something. I am waiting for a response from him.

Sometimes I feel that it is better to get a car from Delhi/WB and pay road tax here. Hyderabad used car market is too inflated. Carwale.com valuation attached.

Don't miss out of a good deal for 20k. Cars that you like, in good condition, and in your budget are tough to find. The pain of searching for another car will be worth more than 20k.

And no, it is not cheaper to get a car from Delhi and register it there. The process is very cumbersome and capital intensive - it will surely cost more, if not the same, especially for petrol cars. I recently did the process for myself, so I trust me.

Might be a different story for luxury diesel cars bought at 8-9 years of age.

A car is worth how much you're willing to pay for it. I calculate a 15% depreciation on invoice value for the first year and 10% from then on, on the residual value of the car. Urban places like Bangalore and Hyderabad tend to over quote on prices. But if you're willing to wait, you might find a better deal.

Toyota and Maruti tend to command higher prices for their apparent reliability, which I think is a lot of stretching it. Very few cars are unreliable and most are better built today compared to the national leader. Their engines are good, but there's little else. I have heard the Ciaz is a decent car, but at the quoted price, I don't think it's value enough.

Yes, my money is hard-earned and I intend to fight for every dime of it.

Booked X3M40i, what price to expect for my X1 X Drive 20 d M Sport?

Hello all,
I just booked the X3 M40i (as it was too tempting with my dream B58 engine). I will wait for the final price announcement next month before taking a call. If I go ahead, I will have to sell my beloved X1 X Drive 20d MSport if I go ahead with the X3 M40i. The X1 has done 35K KM since 2017. It’s in mint condition with fresh brake pads (installed last month). It give an average FE of 12 overall and on highways 17-18 kmpl. What price do I expect for it?
Thanks in advance

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Hello BHPians,

I am in the market for a used car and came across this sale from a broker. The car in question is a 2019 Honda City V CVT with 30,000 miles on it. The current owner is a business firm (2nd owner, individual to firm) and the car has been used by the company's head for personal use.

The asking price is 8 lakh rupees plus a 15,000 rupee brokerage commission. Additionally, the insurance is due next month, and the car is equipped with stock tires. So, the total cost comes to approximately 8.4 lakhs without considering the Tyre upgrade in near future.

I wanted to get your valuable opinion on whether this translates to a good deal or not.

7.5 lakhs all inclusive would have been a sweet deal. The tyres will cost you an additional 24k. Overall, if the car's condition is excellent then its a call that you have to take. 30k is nothing for a Honda City. On the other hand, you will be the third owner!

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

A friend of mine wants to part ways with his Maruti Suzuki Ciaz ZDI 2015 model.

Model : Maruti Suzuki Ciaz
Year : 2015
Owners : 1
Kms :150000
Loan Status : Cleared

Condition : Decent. Would not mention is as immaculately maintained. Has battle scars and bonnet was repainted along with replacement of headlights and fog lamps.

He got it evaluated from cars24 and spinny and not satisfied with their evaluation. Spinny quoted 4.2 Lakhs and Cars24 quoted 3.7 Lakhs!

What would be ideal price?

Note: He was expecting around 6 lakhs to which i clearly mentioned he is expecting way too much. His rationale is that he had paid 13 lakhs on road!

Explain to him there is something called depreciation. As per orangebookvalue the value of the car is Just 2.5 to 2.8 Lakh. A repainted bonnet suggest frontal collision, and would reduce value even further.
Spinny is offering him very good price, he should go ahead eyes closed. If he delays further spinny will ask for revaluation and your friend might not be lucky again with the new valuator.
Also Spinny doesn't sell such high mileage cars, so most likely they are resorting to usual Auctions like cars24 and cardekho. Some associated used car dealers must have picked up in their auctions at this price. In such case the offered value is only for a day or two and the dealer might withdraw this price anytime.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

I am looking to sell my 12 year old Swift VDI (KL registered) in BLR. Cars24 gave me a quote of 2.5L. With my limited knowledge, I felt it is a good deal. The car is in good condition but there are lot of scratches around the car. Does it make sense to drive it back to Kerala and try to sell to a franchise there? Cars24 is active in my home town as well.

The expectation is not that bad, only thing that is a botheration is the mileage. 1.5L kms is too much.

I bought a 2016, 65k driven Ciaz ZXi for 5.5L recently. I would not have paid even 4 lakhs had it run 1.5L kms. Frankly, I would not have bought it at all.

A known person bought a more than 1 lakh driven BMW X1 for 8 lakhs. After the magic figure of 1 Lakh, vehicles depriciate quite a lot. What BMW owner paid on road becomes less relevant.

If the condition is very good (mechanically), he can still get an individual buyer in 4.5L range.

A dealer will be happy to sell this car for 6 lakh after odo reduction, which I cannot suggest to your friend. We are enthusiasts, not fraudsters.

Thanks !!
Stating the upcoming insurance renewal, was able to finalize for 8.3L (including brokerage charges & insurance renewal).
Third owner factor didn't bother me much as I plan to keep it for long.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

I have a 2012 Ritz Vxi that has completed 73000kms. Almost all panels are repainted/replaced due to various accidents/fender benders. During the last service, I was advised that suspension might need work. What should I realistically expect for this?
Spinny online estimate - 2.5L, Cars 24 online estimate - 2.17L. One used car dealer offered 2.3L.
