Hello Friends,

I am planning to buy Maruti Alto LXI from Maruti True value dealer at Bangalore.

The vehicle has done 25000 Kms and 2.3 years old and the quote is
about 2.5+ .

Anyone has idea if 25K in 2.3 years is a stressed out vehicle?

For buying a second vehicle how much kms done shold be considered okey?

Any ideas?

Shirish.

Try to settle out for 2.25 lakhs max. Since you can get a brand new Alto for 3 lakhs, why should you pay about 2.5+ for a 2 year old Alto although Alto is having good resale value.

I would suggest that you buy a new car too. EMI for new car is between 2050-2150 per lac per month; while for used cars the rate goes up to 2360-2480 per lac per month. 400 per lac per month would work out to a difference of 800 on a loan amount of 2 lacs; with that money you can go in for a higher loan amount.

Also, if you still go in for a used car, explore the option of a personal loan instead of a vehicle loan. If you go thru your salary account banker, you will get preferential rates for processing fees as well as interest rate. Plus you have the option of taking 100% loan (vehicle loan will be only 85-90% of the valuation - which is always much lower than the price you actually pay)

Recently a friend purchased a second hand car for 4.40 lacs. ICICI offered a used car loan @ 2472 plpm - max of 4 lacs for a 5 year loan; processing fees was 2% (I think). EMI would have been 9888 and together with the downpayment, the total payment over 5 years would have been 641k. We finally settled for a personal loan of 4.50 lacs @ 2225 for a 5 year loan; EMI was 10k; processing fee was 1k and total repayment will be 601k + the bank will give cash back Rs. 16k for timely payments over the 4 years.

Explore loan options and dont be in a hurry. a slight rate difference could work out to be very expensive.

@Wheeliej: This is the 2nd time I am hearing that the personal loan is coming cheaper than the vehicle loan. Damn the stadards are so much changing these days

Hi,

I want to know what price should i expect from selling my Tata Indica 2000 DLE model. It is in good running condition with new tyres.

Let me know
Udit

i got a 2006 model lxi from true value which had done roughly 9k for 2.6lakh. i am sure you can bargain for a better deal.

TV is always very high. I bought my car from TV Sundaram motors and the prices for the similar model/year cars are at least 20k lesser in TV sundaram than in Maruti Truevalue.
Similarly Sundaram is almost 10k costlier than the local dealers. I preferred sundaram as it too offers a 1 year free service, and they replaced broken headlights, mirrors and taillights free of cost before delivery.

Insted of that go for new one as True Valve shops are always on higher side, or you can search your self in outside market with the help of known mechanic also consider points mentioned over here to check the geniune Car.

TV also gives you lesser price when you trade in. I was being offered 1.75 L for my 6 year old Santro LS while in the market I sold it at 1.85 L easily.

Hello mates,

I need an urgent piece of advice from the experts.

One of my colleagues is selling off his company leased Fiesta 1.6SXi Sep 2006 model (non-alloy wheels) as he is chucking the job.

Car has done close to 12k kms and seems to be pretty well maintained. Carwale gives me a quote of 5.3 lac for this description.

Wanted to check if this is a good price?

Prompt comments/feedback/suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Alok!

Have you checked the carwale value correctly? It gives about 6lacs. One year old Fiesta 1.6SXis are going about 6.5 lacs in Bangalore. If the vehicle is in good condition, 5.5 certainly is a good deal.

Regards,
Mohan.

Carwale is known to give near-accurate values. Check whether he's seen the value under "Best maintained" individual seller section.

Sorry for the typo - it is a ZXi and not an SXi stupid:

Thanks for the suggestions. I have finalised the deal for 5.2 lac.

Folks,

I am from bangalore.
I am new to this forum and planning to buy a used car.
I ve shortlisted three cars...

1. Honda City 1.3 (coz of its superior durability and good mileage)
2. Accent VIVA CRDI (coz of mileage and liked the styling)
3. TATA Safari (coz of the true suv look and good for long drives)

i think, u can help me to find the best of the lot and suggestions are also welcome. it will be good if u can tell me the approximate price of these cars in good condition.

i will be using it for around 1500 km a month. and its gonna be my first car.

Thanks in advance,
TomRider
