IMHO that's way too high.

The current trend is for the big Chevys to lose half value in 3-3.5 years ; 4.25-4.6 is about fine

Keep searching ; and buy a diesel only if you must cover at least 20k a year.

Which car are you looking at? I quoted example of Spark and other Chevrolet cars in general.

The car I am looking at is the Chevy Optra Magnum LT Aug 2007 model. I am looking at striking the deal at around 3.7L. I would like to check with our team bhpians who have a chevy optra for the last 5 years and their ownership experience.

Car is KA registered and my friend is going to be 4 th owner on paper if he is going for it.
he is going to be 3 rd owner logically as the car is exchanged between a dad and Son in a family priorly and the same is done in book also for some reason.

So what do you guys think abou the deal ?
My friend had closed the deal for 2.05L, the car is maintained superbly inside and outside. He had planned for a full service and tyre change.
You know, The car is still having a cassette player at this 2k era . He is planning for a good CD/DVD player as well.

Hi,

I'm planning to sell my Hyundai Accent 2001 top end model, done 60k kms, 1st owner. Car is registered in Mumbai with comprehensive insurance. The car has alloy wheel, tint on all glasses including front. Has pipercross stock replacement air filter, Authomech endcan, and Tri Phase installed into it. It also has Pioneer Music system with JBL Amp, JBL rear speakers and JBL Sub alongwith Infinity components in front. Has art leather seat cover and door pads along with genuine leather steering wheel cover and gear knob cover. The car has only been serviced at Hyundai service center or with Sunil Shanbag Sir. The only thing needed is painting of car as Car is still in it's original factory paint. How much can i expect for the same.

I am planning to sell my April 2010 Honda City VMT with Navi Mumbai registration plates. The car has run only 16K kms, and is in immaculate condition with all service records, G-Sports art leather seat covers, 3M sun film etc. Called up Honda to inquire about buyback price, and they quoted 5-5.5L for the car Checked carwale, and some sellers are asking for 8.25 L for similar cars.

What price can I realistically expect to get for my car ?

Honestly, would you buy one at Carewale price or thereabouts ...?
I presume not.
Let me tell you Honda people really evaluate used cars in a fair manner.
A friend of mine traded his old Ford Ikon 1.8D for Rs.2 L when best offer he got from everywhere was 1.5 L.
Welcome to the new post-petrol-hike reality my friend...!

What would be a good price for:

Wagon R Vxi. Hyderabad.
October 2004 model.
Run around 58k kms.
Second owner. Purchased from True Value (Sept 2006@ 14500 km).

Some scratches and a small dent on the rear door.
Fully Insured till Oct 2012.

Michelin Tires were fixed in January 2011.

Tata Dealer has quoted 1.25 lakhs.
Also if sold to them the car would get an exchange bonus of 40k.

The only issue per se with the car is a messed up cat-con. This causes a rattling noise at low speeds and no acceleration.

Re: Exchange Bonus: Is it just a marketing gimmick?

How much can a 2004 model 800 Std BS II fetch individually and at dealers?
  • 50K kms run
  • 2nd owner
  • Bangalore registration
  • Tyres need replacement by another 2K kms
  • Overall in decent condition

Quoting my own post to give you an answer:

....Highest that was offered by a broker was 1.6L and he was to take a 2% commission.
1. Broker/2nd hand car market price - 1.6L (highest)
2. Dealer price = 1.35L + Exchange bonus 20k = 1.55L

You will ALWAYS be quoted a lower price by the dealer because naturally, he is factoring in the exchange "bonus" that he will add to that price.

Thanks. But what about the part where you don't actually sell of your car to them? Do they then just happily give you the exchange bonus as a cash discount upfront? It becomes a good deal then IMHO.

well, the options that have finally come through are either you buy from us, or forget the 20k deposit.

I wonder what would my 29 Sept'08 Santro GLS (white), ~40k fetch. Has minor scratches, mainly used as commute to my office @ District Courts, Patiala. Had changed tires @35k to Bridgestone Turanza. Quotes welcome
