Update on Getz sale + comparo with Alto resale of same vintage

An update on the final selling price of the Getz :

My colleague got a few enquiries and even a quote at 1.75lakh but that buyer did not turn up. Finally he sold it at 1.62lakhs. Am sure he could have got better price, but his Scorpio got delivered and he did not want to deal with parking space etc.

What surprised me was that another colleague who owns a 2007 Alto-Lxi and is expecting delivery of a Jazz tomorrow, has a quote of 1.60lakhs for his Alto from TrueValue itself. So, if he sells it outside, he can easily get between 1.65 - 1.7 lakhs.

So, a 3L Alto and a 4.5L Getz of the same vintage get the same resale value, infact Alto gets better resale value. Though the Getz is clearly the better car there in almost all params except FE.

Reasons:
- Getz was a market dud
- Getz is not in production anymore

A same vintage Swift would fetch considerably more even though it is inferior to the Alto only in FE, wouldn't it??

Yes its very good transaction.

I sold my 2009 i10 1.2 Sportz (Delhi reg) for 2.85L last month. But then, Delhi has a pretty bad used car market, esp for Petrols and I am based out of BLR so had to take whatever was offered when I was there.

What is the right price considering all petrols are now lemons much less the automatics?
I think you should get it for somewhere between 5.5 and 5.75 lakhs. It all depends on whether the seller is desperte to sell it or not. Like you said the market for these cars is very bad and it is very unlikely that the seller will get any decent offers.

Great, thanks! I think even that price is on the higher side.

Yes, because of how it was maintained.

Moreover, I was in a dilemma as my Chevy dealer got a customer who wanted to pay cash and he was at my doorstep to take it away and same time received a ping on BBM from a friend from USA he wanted to buy it for his dad here.

It was like one of those nail-biting stories. Obviously, sold it to my friend at same price. Two guys fighting to buy it at that price. Isnt that sweet?

Delhi and Mumbai do have a bad resale but, going by how cars are maintained there its not too suprising. Most of the cars in Delhi are in really beaten up shape and they dont bother to spruce it up.

Which month of 2009 was your car and how much it had done?

Well mine was April 2009 model and had 21k on the Odo at the time of sale. Strictly driven in NCR and Bangalore only (no highway runs at all.) It came to Bangalore in 2010 with me and I had to send it to Delhi for sale in April this year. It was in excellent condition at the time of sale as I had kept it very well. Unfortunately for me I had only 1 week window for the sale when I was in Delhi and had to take whatever could be negotiated. Carwale's valuation for my car was 2.7L (and 3.5L had it been a KA registered car!!!) I had bought it for 4.5L at that time (same car now costs (on road) 5.08L in Delhi and 5.6L here in Bangalore!).
Still I feel I could have got around 3L if I had sufficient time to wait. It was a good deal for the buyer in my case

What can I expect as resale for the following car

Hyundai Santro LS
2001 Dec manufactured - Apr 2002 registered in Coimbatore
2nd owner
110k on the odo
Silver color, extremely good interiors (run fully with the AC on since I purchased it in 2005), decent exterior (have a few minor dents which I will fix before selling)
Gives me ~12-14 FE in Blr with AC and 16+ on the highways
Has PS and Front Power Windows
