One of my friends has bought a July 2010 Linea Emotion Petrol for 3.75L. Car is well maintained with full service history and genuine 22k on the odo. The best thing is that the car has an extended warranty for another 2 years. It has no rattles and I feel that he got a great deal.

Bhpian's Please let me know what would be a fair price I can sell my 2000 model zen well maintained (yeah the original jelly bean).

First owner was a doctor who handed over it to me in stock and neat condition and I was lucky to maintain it the same way especially in Bangalore ! Tyres have been changed at 70k km (stock profile - Bridgestone) and run about 17k. new battery (Amaron 38B19R - 3 Year warranty) replaced in Sep 2012, which are the only major replacements. Running on original clutch in perfect condition. Comprehensive Insurance valid till Oct 2013.

periodic 5k interval service done, Last service done at 84k.

Specifications :

Model: May 2000 Model Zen lx
Mileage: 87k kms
Owners: 2, with good service history.
Has front power windows, leather steering cover, Pioneer CD Player with JBL speakers and Xenos Central Remote lock as additional accessory.

Hello prsnck,
A fair price for your Zen would be around 0.75L to 1.0L. Since yours is a two owners car, you may get a lower quote. Try to negotiate on the basis of full service history. Dont even get near to a dealer. You might not get more than 0.50L. Try. finding an individual buyer.

BTW, is it an MPFI or Carb model
Hope this helps,

Varun

Thanks Varun.

I forgot to mention couple of important facts.

This is a Bangalore (Karnataka Reg) vehicle which demands the highest road tax ever in India, hence the little more premium added to onroad vehicle price. The new as well used cars cost more than they in any of the other States.

And this is a carb vehicle. Not to offend you, frankly I have received quoutes in about 1.15 till date and it defenitely fetches more than that as I been observing closely what condition vehicle is getting sold at what price finally in Bangalore. The market value and demand for the jelly bean model Zen and the Old Honda City Type II are among the best here.

Agreed that market value of jellybean Zen is more, the carb ver and Lx would fetch lower than say a MPFi and Lxi/ Vxi combo.
This is the same case with bestseller Alto as well where plain Alto and Lx fetch lower than Lxi with power steering.

Hello kmadhok,
The price of i10 Top model should have been around 7L in 2011. The first buyer would have got a discount of at-least around 30-40k's. So that's a final OTR price of around 6.6L. Since a car loses max value in the first 2 years, a price of 5.25-5.4L seems fair.
BTW, how much is the seller quoting?

Hope this helps,
Varun

Hello Harish,

Rs. 6.2 Lacs for 2010 Manza is a great deal. But hope you know that this premuim in Price is only due to fact that the Car is Diesel driven.

Also just for your information, 2010 Manza Petrol cars are not going even for Rs. 3.25 lacs in Mumbai. Last month I had a offer from a used car dealer to buy a April 2010 Manza Petrol for Rs. 3.2 lacs.

Thanks,

Is it advisable at all to pick up a car like this for about 15kms/day run? See the deal is to buy a car for girls who're working late in our office. So they'll be chauffeured home (all girls stay in a 4-5 kms vicinity) in this by our office boy who doubles up as our boss's driver during the day?

I would rather pick an 800 or Alto for that (price & requirement) or a new (or low run) Nano base variant. It will ensure better peace of mind for a low priced petrol used car + low maintenance.

Sold my 2003 December registered Maruti Zen LX (the one with the new design before the phase out) for 1,40,000/- Had done around 72k kilometers in it with 2 year old Bridgestone tyres and brand new battery. Did I get a good price or was I ripped off?

Seller is quoting 5.95L, since it was not driven at all. I am willing to pay upto 5.5L, since my requirement is an AT, and I am happy with the A-Star as well. I can get a brand new A-Star On-Road in Mumbai for 5.2L without any bargaining. I think atleast 10-20K further can be reduced.

Hey!
One of my friends is being offered a Fiat Palio second hand.
I dont know the details yet, but irrespective of make/cost/kms run and other details, is it advisable to buy a Fiat Palio second hand now? I just want to know if service and spares will an issue in a couple of years time.
Thanks!

Hello Krishnan,

Rs. 1.4 lacs for a December 2003 Zen Lx with 72000 kms on ODO is a really good price.

In Mumbai, we are getting 2004 & 2005 Maruti Zen Vxi for Rs. 1.4 from used Car Dealers. Which means they have bought these Cars for approx Rs. 1.1 - Rs. 1.2 lacs.

By the way did you your car to direct buyer or to used Car Dealer?

Thanks,
