The vehicle is just as you can expect out of an auction, good body, but mechanicals and cosmetics need to be done up. Is 1.5 Lakh a fair value for such vehicle provided papers are clear?

Since you mentioned that the mechanicals and cosmetics need to be done up, I doubt if it's wise to spend 1.5L on just the body & chassis. Maybe max 1L. I suggest you take pics of the jeep & send it to jeep gurus like harjeev, Samurai, 4*4 addict,Tejas, GTO, wandernomad, ranjith or UBS Sir. Not to forget BD Sir!!

They can give you advice like none other. Talk to them and take a call accordingly.

Well said powertrain. We have many threads on Jeep build from scratch. It can cost so much if luck is not on your side. Definitely need a mech inspection and estimation done before picking up. Decent running MM550s are seen 3L+ TBHP classifieds itself, so do your math accordingly

re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread. (Online tool : Page 1)

Let me share my experience at Bangalore. I had a 2008 Alto Lx which i decided to sell in the year 2011. I went to true value first to sell my car and they quoted me around 1.60. Later i sold it to my friend at 1.80. He used the car for another two years for another 10,000kms and he again sold the car to a second hand car dealer few weeks back at 1.65. Whereas when he visited true value they quoted him 1.35. I guess 1.65 is a good price for a 2nd hand 2008 Alto Lx with 57,000 kms in the odo. So its evident what true values quotes one can easily get 20-30k more if they sell outside.

How much should I expect for my May 2011 VW Polo Tdi trendline, candy white in colour, done 16k kms and in excellent condition?

Also I would like to know how much should I expect as on date and how much a year later, because I might want to wait and watch before going for the Polo TSI.

Hello 599gto,
You can expect around 4.6-4.75L if you sell to a dealer & around 4.75-5.0L if you sell to an individual.
You have done 16000kms in 2 yrs. That's 8000 kms a year.If you want to sell after a year assuming the car will do around 25000 kms, you can expect around 3.8-4.1L, for your car.

Quite frankly, with 0.50 paisa price increase in diesel prices every month, I presume that there will be less demand for diesel cars.

Varun

re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread. (Online tool : Page 1)

After family relocated to hometown, my Xylo's usage has drastically come down and has run just 7K KMs in last one year and hence checking is it wise to let it go now and get one when I again feel the need for long drives and a bigger vehicle. Based on the feedback from you guys, I am retaining the Accent CRDI which covers most of my drive needs along with an Alto 1.1 for short drives.

What would be a fair ask for a 2009 E8 with 50K on odo in Bangalore?

What's a fair price for a 2008 Aquarius blue ford fiesta 1.6s in Bangalore with 60k on the odo? Also, anyone have any inputs on how these cars age. I've seen enough examples of Honda and Toyota cars with 1-2l on the odo but not sure about Ford.

If we know the version like E8 ABS BSIII or E8 ABS Airbags BSIII then fair price can be guessed exactly. But considering that its a E8 BSIII i believe some where around 5 lakhs would be a fair price if sold.

Hello jacs,
I'm not too aware of Bangalore prices, but in Mumbai you can buy 2009 Xylo's for around 5.2-5.5L from used car dealers. Since Bangalore prices are higher than Mumbai, I believe you can expect around 5.75-6.0L for your Xylo.
As always, try selling to a private buyer than a dealer.

Varun

Hello Jaibir,
The advantage of buying an S over the regular 1.6 is that, there is not much price difference between the two. So don't pay a premium just because it's an S.

As a car it's a hoot to drive. A true "driver's delight"!!! Ford generally make durable cars. It's just that the maintenance is perceived to be a little more than say, Hyundai. It all depends on how the car was maintained by it's previous owners.

I would pay max 4.0-4.25L for this car. BTW, how much is seller quoting?

Regards,
Varun

This car will lose resale very fast, I wouldn't suggest you pay anything more than 2.5 L for this car. One of my friend bought a 2008 1.6 SXI for 2.5 about 2 months back in Bangalore. The 1.6 S has no special premium in the used car market and enthusiasts like us are hard to come by.

Wow 2.5 lakhs for a 2008 top of the line petrol fiesta and that too in Bangalore!! I wonder how much a similar car would go for in Mumbai or pune... not that i am in the market for a used car but at these prices(and the petrol fiesta being one of my Favorites) i might try to convince dad

2.5l is ideal price but I wouldn't mind going upto 3l for the car but no more than that

re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread. (Online tool : Page 1)

I am planning to buy a new car in July and am thinking of selling my 2004 Indica now.

Do you think its a good idea to sell it off now or wait till July and buy new car under some exchange benefit?

Also how much can I expect for Indica V2 - 2004 model with 60K running in Mumbai?

Hello d21,
You have not mentioned if your car is petrol or diesel. If it’s a diesel you can expect around 1-1.3L & if it’s a petrol you can expect 0.50-0.75L from it.

It will be better if you sell your car in July, cause 2 months here or there will not make a diffrence to a 10 year old car. And you can use it till that time.It is also possiblethat you may get exchange bonus.

Regards,
Varun
