Its atleast 50k too high. 1.8 seems an OK price to pay.

I have a April 2005 Accent Petrol GLE Model.

A few weeks back, just for fun I got it valued and there was someone willing to take it at 2.6 Lacs. 40k done.

BUT the condition is mint.

For a 5 yr old car, the price may be between 2.25 - 2.5L. Below 2L is a little wishful,IMHO.

Things that I had to do when I got a 2001 GLX in 2007,
1.Shock absorber replacements - around 6k+6k I think
2. Clutch bleeding - around 3 I think
3. Wheel bearings change - around 6k I think
4. Changed window winder 3 times! 2 of them on the same door.

I hear, the suspension is a pain point and often wears out, but in my case, I have been lucky so far. Did a tyre change in Aug and the dealer mentioned, with surprise,it was in good condition.

cheers.

Accents don't have a very good resale value. IMO 2.2 would be a perfect price, if the car is in mint condition.

@Yamaha,Given the fact that santro is 4th hand and has completed 1L, 99 model it would have gone at 75-80k max if the dealer takes it.So adding another 2.25L is worth for 2005 Accent inclusive of all.60K on the ODO is ok considering the fact that it has run around 1250-1300kms per month(probably office to home). This holds good only if the meter is not tampered.

I think Accent is a great car to have, we have been owning one since the last 5 years and it has given an excellent service.
do check the service record history before purchasing.

Finalise it at 2.25 if it is in excellent shape. Its a good car and the maintenance is also at the lower side. How long does your friend intend to keep it anyway ?

I am using my Accent (petrol) for last 7 years and its still going good at 60k on odo. A service at regular interval has so far been my expense, no other expenses on repairs.

If you are satisfied with the state of the car (engine, suspension, body line etc) I can vouch that you wont have much to worry about.

This is a good car and is in market for last 10 years, so there is some good reason why it still sells.

Hi Guys

the exshowroom price of below cars
I10 IRDE MAGNA - 3.84 LAKHS
I10 KAPPA MAGNA - 3.96 LAKHS

for just 12k extra one gets a better engine. if this car is sold exactly 1 year from now, which version would command a better resale ? ( of course after factoring out the cost difference to start with )

Guys, could someone tell me how much to bargain for a Aug-2004 Elantra CRDi in Trivandrum? Chauffeur-driven, 78K on the odo, service done at 73K, no shunts, owned by a jewelry showroom owner, so probably maintained well.

Also, I'm looking at a Aug-2008 model Indigo CS DiCOR LS at the same dealer. Run only 26K, single owner, self-driven, changing car to buy SUV. Black, with art leather seat covers, Pioneer stereo with 4 speakers, reverse camera etc. LS model has AC, PS and CL. I asked at Tata dealer's exchange shop, and they said 2008 Indigo CS is worth no more than 3.5 at the maximum. Dealer is asking for 4.1. Is this guy trying his luck with me or should I quote something like 3.25L?

I also found a 2005 Scorpio with 81K on the odo at a First Choice. They are asking 4.4 for it. It's the full-option model, 2.6 non-CRDe model. What are the caveats, and should I consider it at all?

I would say go for the 2008 Indigo as it is newest of the lot and will have least of the issues.

Yeah, that is the obvious choice, but I've heard some bad things about the 1.4 DiCOR. Regular replacement items like the fuel-filter costs 2400 vs 150 for the TDi. If it was a TDi, I'd have bought it without a second thought. I have a friend at the dealership. Maybe he can check up the service records and see if this car has had any niggling issues. I've heard this 'upgrading to SUV' story too many times. Thanks for the suggestion man.
