Somewhere near 3.5 to 4 lakh would seem like a decent deal

Hello Dreamz,
A comfortable price would be around 4.5-5L. But since it's a TrueValue car, I would not mind going upto 5.25L max!

BTw, how much is TV quoting?

Hope this helps,
Varun

Thanks PowerTrain, Thats what i figured it would be, as they are offering 1 year / 15k kms warranty & free services.

they were asking 5.50L but we made the deal for 5.20L + charges on RTO Transfer, Insurance Transfer or Financing charges (Applied for Loan) that totals around 10k so in all the car cost me 5.20L + 10K

A decent deal,I must say Mak. Although 10K of the charges should ideally be borne by TV. Enjoy your ride.

Team,
I was thinking of picking up a CRV in Delhi . Do you think this is a good time to pick up a 2008-2012 Honda CRV in light of the New CRV's launch ? Do you guys reckon that prices would have dropped or do CRV's hold their resale values very well? Any idea regarding the approximate price band for the new shape CRVs? I was hoping to get a good one between 7-8 lakhs. I find it very strange that i'm finding new shape accords for rock bottom prices but people continue quoting much higher prices for CRVs.

@ saketa - I think its a great time to pick up a used CRV. Its one of those cars that makes more sense used than when new. A close associate just picked up an 09 crv in Delhi last week. The deal was finalised for around 8.5 with some change. We picked it up from a private seller hence the premium , but the dealers will go lower if you negotiate.

Evaluating these 3 in Bangalore, any idea what should be quoted for each and which one is better/"liveable" in terms of less maintenance

1. 2008 Dec Palio stile 1.1, 30K kms, 2 lakhs quote
2. 2006 Ford Fusion + ABS, 55K kms, 2.8 L
3. 2007 Getz GVS, 55K kms, 2.2 L

All petrol single owner vehicles, not inspected, but claimed to be in good condition.

Palio 1.1 is a re-sale disaster. Ford Fusion - another from the tribe & long gone out of production; and service bills should be hefty at 10K+ every service (from what I know). Getz, again have very low re-sale value.

I personally would NOT put more than a 1.5L on any of these models; Fusion might, at 1.75L. Dont know the market value though.

My pick of the lot will be

1. Fusion
2. Getz

I don't know it's a good idea to pick the Palio 1.1, would it NOT be really slow to drive?

Not sure about the prices in Bangalore but I think the prices are on the higher side. Palio 1.2/1.1 is a very slow car. Returns awful FE. I bought one 2 years back because my running is 250-300Km a month. It was a 2002 model at 1.05L. in 2011 (Mahindra First Choice). There are frequent Niggles but the cost of spares is not unreasonable. I have spent around 15K including a scheduled servicing at 5K. That is not bad considering a 10 years old car.

I suggest get a Palio 1.6. It will be cheaper to buy & maintain than Ford Fusion.

BTW "2006 Ford Fusion + ABS, 55K kms, 2.8 L" is ridiculous.

Hello Singleton,

I might sound strange, but if you are looking for a used petrol car with a budget of Rs. 2 - 2.5 lacs, I will simply suggest you to stay away from all the three cars you have listed. Fiat Palio & Ford Fusion are strict no, while Getz is better of three but the price of Rs. 2.2 lacs is very high & remember you will get almost nothing when you try to sell this car after couple of years.

There are many good used Maruti WagonR, Swift, Hyundai Santro, Honda City available within Rs. 2.5 lacs, which you should focus on.

Thanks,

Guys, my friend is in the process of finalising on a used 2011 F10 BMW 525d (registered in Kerala, single owner with BSI taken for 3 years and with rear entertainment and massaging seats). It has done 8000 kms. Price quoted by the dealer is 40L. He has brought it down to 37L now. Is this a good buy?

The first owner must have bought the BMW for about 42 lakhs. The current price ,post hike is about 52 lakhs. 8000 Kms is as good as new. Haggle a bit more. I think , BMW also has a 5 year service package, do check for it. And if you could get the extra 2 years coverage from the company, this will be a good buy.

A brand new 520D was offered to me last month for 41Lakhs OTR Mumbai. Considering Mumbai prices are higher than Kerala's, I'd think 37 is quite steep. Agreed the this is the 525 with BSi and rear entertainment packages are available, but premium cars tank 20-25percent as soon as they drive out of the showroom. And this car is now 2years old (2011-2013)
