re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread. (Online tool : Page 1)

I am planning to sell, my Brio S (O) MT, 2012, 28000KMs. The car is well maintained and trouble free, barring few scratches on front bumper. A friend quoted Rs.310,000. Is it a good deal? I am yet to post on classifieds sites.

Selling my 2009 i10 Sportz model run for 91000 Kms. Tyres upgraded to Michelin shoes with wider Rims. Got a quote of 2L from one of the Toyota dealer. Is it a fair quote? Hyundai dealer gave an approximate quote of 2.35L, but I haven't got the evaluation done. Planning to check with cars24.com. Got an estimate of 2.59L from their site.

2L is decent but 2.35 is even better. My senior wanted to sell his 2009 i10 Magna with 30K on the odo. It had Stanley seats too. The car was well maintained. He got a quote of 1.6L and that too a year back. He wanted to exchange for an Elite i20. The plan should got dropped and he still drives the same car.

Hi Everyone,

My friend is looking for a used car in Pune. He has got an offer for 2010 Polo Highline 1.2 @ 33000 KM for a price of 3.25L. Is it a good price for Polo? I am not sure of resale values of VW cars. Will he be able to manage a quick resale, in case he moves out of India?

Secondly, as the car is out of warranty now, how costly will be repairs, god forbid. How is the issue of spare availability outside ASS as VW ASS is quite notorious.

We all like VW cars, especially the Polo. But, we all feel nervy at the same time.

If you are looking for Elite i20 and ready to pay 7-7.5 Lakhs, better to go for a new vehicle.
Price should be under under 7 Lakhs if you want to go for it.

The latest iteration has dual airbags in even the mid-variants. You could get a new Sportz Petrol for ~ 8.2L on road, all inclusive.

The older model makes sense only in the low 6.xx lacs range. First couple of years are worst for depreciation, so if you can find a well-maintained sample ~2 years old in that price bracket, go for it by all means.

If the ODO reading is genuine and there are no mechanical issues with the car (accident repair etc.), definitely worth a look.

If that's the initial asking price, you can definitely try to get it down a bit further. Pretty decent deal even at 6.3L if records are clean.

Yes, all repairs done at A.S.S. will be on the car's service record. You could, and should insist on getting this before you make a decision. An owner with a clean car to sell shouldn't object.

And i guess Hyundai cars have their glass parts manufactured year displayed on the window glass in a different code other than just the year number as in other cars like maruti, right? Any idea to check it?
Hyundai I believe use Asahi Temperlite branded glass parts, and the stamping format is pretty standard across the board. On this particular manufacturer, the last line has two digits indicating year of manufacture. See the below picture from the T-BHP official review for reference. Do note that while it's rare for fast moving cars to have older cosmetic parts, it's not impossible to have parts manufactured well before the car was actually assembled.

Your best bet to trace your car's birth is the VIN.

Ya the owner said no accidents, no replacements, self driven, first owner. But he said price is non negotiable. Have to see the vehicle in person and then will look into it.

Hi,

I am looking to sell my Laura 1.8 TSI Ambiente petrol in Bangalore. Its an Apr 2012 model and it has done 49000 kms. I am the second owner. The car is well maintained with new tyres and some mild scratches. What would be a good price?

Cheers,
Aravind

Thanks for the info Chetan.
The manufactured date of the glasses was to know if anyone of them was replaced by the owner.

Hi a friend is looking for a pre-owned XUV500 W8 but not more than 2 years old. What should be a fair price for it.
