A relative bought a January 2005 DL-reg 2nd owner 25000 km Honda City EXi with a DVD player installed in it for 3.6L, including the cost of transfer of registration.

Also inspected 2 Elantras - July 2005, <30k km, 4 yr warranty still valid, 1st owner, showroom condition (no dents) for 4L, and a Jan 05 45k km, 2nd owner, few dents and scratches, for 3.4L.

Folks, had a quick question. I am planning to sell my Sep 2004 Alto LX (No Power Steering). The car is in good condition. All services done at Vitesses, Prabhadevi. Car has gone 39K. Tires still have life of approx 5-6 K. Complete Stock i.e. not even a stereo. Any pointers on what should I expect?

90K to 1.1L at the most depending on the condition of the car.

My assumption would be close to 1.5 Lacs, depending on the condition.

1.5 L would be too optimistic considering the cost of new Alto LX would be 3.1 L on road (Lesser if you can negotiate some discounts). This is a 5 year old car and it will not fetch 1.5L. 1.1L at Max.

Had been to the Maruti True Value place run by Sai Service today afternoon. They did a valuation and offered a price of 1.4L

Thats right price for 2004 Alto Lx. In Bangalore 2004 year purchased M800 in good condition would fetch at least 1.2 lacs. So Alto should fetch 1.5 lacs at least.

But remember Bangalore prices are bit more always in Mumbai expect slightly less and up north its more less.

So 1.4 lacs is good price and if you sell it to direct buyer can fetch 10 to 20,000/- extra but might be painful sometimes during the deal.

Regards,

Ravi.

PS Please remember small used cars like ALto/M800 have lsot 10 to 20% more because of NANO effect in recent months. But Luxury cars gained because of recession people started looking for used Luxury cars rather than buying new ones.

Hi Guys, This is a very informative thread and ive been thru a lot of the pages picking up onfo.
To my mind the recession is bringing down used car prices significantly and a segment which never got my attention is now looking attractive. (of course you miss the new car smell).
I need a car for long drives 2 -3 times a year (bangy-goa, goa mumbai, mumbai bangy) and to run about in the b to b traffic in bangy. I saw a 28K kms 1.5 yr old petrol Getz 1.3 on offer for 3.3 L Excellent condition. Wife was very impressed. I too liked the car and nearly started the buying process. BUT after reading in this forum about the lack of pulling power with AC and the poor FE made me rethink. Is this price worth it? I generally do 6 - 8 K km per year so petrol would suit me.

Cant think of any figure unless you specify the year of manufacture of the car.
But Getz 1.3 aint sluggish. It does the job. Getz 1.1 is the one which is sluggish. But expect low mileage in 1.3 between 9-11 depending on your driving.

Getz has had a significant price reduction.
Please check the nearest dealer for the OTR price of a new Getz.

Decide on the second hand price with the current OTR in mind.

Quite sad for the guy who bought it lfirst, but as a second buyer, you are in luck.

Factor in the extra costs for tire change (maybe 20 k away), insurance if its expiring.

BUT the offer price itself seems to be an issue. Its very very high, considering the car is almost 3 year old, with 28k on the odo. Better to buy a new one.

What would be a best price for the above model?

Also for a VTEC 1.5 years old with 15 K in Odo what will be a good price?

Thanks a ton

used Honda CRV

I found an used Honda CRV Nov 2004 single owner model run 52000 KMS, the price quoted is 8.75 Lacs.
The 4 tyres are gone and need to be replaced and 2 ORVM's are not functioning rest all seems to be fine however needs to verify th service history.

If this a fair price to pick this vehicle if not what is the best
price i can negotiate for?

i am willing to keep this for another 3 years and what would be the resale value after 3 years approx atleast?

There have been some recent buyers of pre-owned cars and you may get an idea of the right price.

P.S.: Fusion is not extinct, just niche

Thanks. This kind of FE is a bit too steep esp as i was gettiing 18 in my old Matiz. this Getz was sep 07. But I was impressed with the build quality (except the fake wood panels)
