@ Leonardo, dealer prices are always very high. The same cars that the dealer has quoted 2.5 L should be easily gettable from the owner for 1.7 L or less. Try contacting direct sellers or through Ford showrooms if you have any contacts. Fords have very little resale value.

Thanks for your reply. I heard 1.9 TD is a better performer. What is the approx price of palio 1.6 in chennai. Can we say the performance of 1.2 petrol is equal to 1.9 TD.

1.2 Petrol is a lot more peppier than the 1.9D, IMO.

2002 models of the 1.6 GTX or S10 go for anywhere between 1L to 1.5L depending on the car.

I'm looking for a used diesel Indica (1-2 years old). For how much I can get one?

Is there any possibility of getting a decent used diesel in the price range of 2L?

You'll easily get an used Indica for 2L. But look for one which has clocked at-least <80K KMS.

I'm on the lookout for a used diesel sedan. Budget 3.5L. Is stretchable if i get a decent Elantra. Besides the accent Crdi(which I dont want) what else are my options?

What would a less run diesel lancer cost?

I'm getting
i) Alto LXi, 2008, ran 4 K KM for Rs. 2.80L.
ii) Alto LXi, 2006, ran 15 K KM for Rs. 1.90 L
iii) Alto LXi, 2007, ran 20 K KM for Rs. 2.0 L.

Which one of the above is a better deal? I've not bargained with the seller yet - think will be able to do so in each case.

Don't see too much of a point in going in for option i) at that price, might as well buy a new one ! If both cars in option ii) and iii) have the same accessories and are cosmetically the same, I would go in for option iii) but negotiate for a better deal !

Help Please - Used Scorpio

Hi folks,

I have set my mind on buying a suv and as luck would have it, a friend wants to sell his Sep 2005 scorpio CRDE Dx. The car has done 52000 Kms and is black in color. The upholstery needs some serious cleaning, but is mechanically sound. In fact it is a 60th anniversary version and comes with a 60 months warranty. All service records are intact and the car feels good to drive. Now the price being quoted is 4.5 lacs. Is this OK, or should I negotiate to about 4.25? I will have to renew the insurance in September and do some work on the upholstery and audio system. Pls. guide with reference to:

1. Selection of the scorpio as a SUv ( I currently own 2 hatchbacks)
2. Reliability
3. Things I need to check
4. How good is the warranty bit
5. Is the price right?

Buddy,
I have a similar version.
The 60 months warranty stuff is BULL****.
If even once the vehicle was serviced out of A S S then it is void.Pls check records.

I would also go for option iii) as the car is newer and will have lesser problems. Option i is ruled out as it is way expensive.

Options III is the best one as it has got decent ODO reading for that make and do keep the TBHP Check list, if possible get a good car mechanic and check the car before you buy.
