But still the best way to be sure would be to check out other similar deals in the market and online and compare them and you will get a better idea. do make an informed decision. particularly for a used mercedes. also check service history.
thanks. I did check the prices online, and found most similar E class at around 25 - 28 lacs quoted price, hence thought this was a very good deal. But still wanted fellow BHPians opinions. Will anyways negotiate further on the price if I decide to pick this up

Hello,

You friend can get a 2003 / 2004 Maruti Wagon R for approx Rs. 1,50,000.

WagonR is indeed a good Car for weekend travel & has decent boot space & the mileage on highways is approx 15+.

Check points, the ODO meter reading should not be more than 40,000 kms & check if the tyres are recently replaced.

Thanks,

I sold my 2004 Wagon R Vxi to True Value in Kottayam in January for 1.5 lac. Had done 74k km, and the tyres were nothing great. They'll surely sell it out to an individual for minimum 1.7 lac.

So an individual buyer will get only an older car with more mileage done for 1.5 lac. So if he wants a good car, he'll need to raise his budget. 1.5 its always a compromise.

1.7 lac is enough for a decent car then? i.e. a WagonR or Santro?

Yes.

Rs. 1.7 lacs is definitely enough to buy a decent 2004 WagonR or Santro.

Both are good cars in their own respect & if you are getting both Cars, then it is a matter of personal choice.

Also will have to check ODO meter reading & how well maintained the car is.

Thanks,

I thought so that it cannot be that cheap as I told you I saw a 4 years old C class C220 CDI for 18.5. so a 3 years old E class is definitely a good buy at this price. but just check the car properly and see if its not an accident car or there is no major issue since he is selling at a much lesser rate compared to the market rate. good luck!

Hello Fatboy,

You can expect approx Rs. 4.5 lacs for your Car.

But will it really make a sense to upgrade to a Diesel Car? Because you are losing almost Rs. 2.5 lacs on your current Car & then you will put additional Rs. 2 / 3 lacs for buy a diesel Car.

Request you to refer my post # 4749 in page no 317 of this thread. Ravi too is planning to sell his 1 year old i20 & upgrade to Diesel Car. I have given explanation with cost calculation clearly showing that given your usage it does NOT makes sense to buy a diesel car right now. Also refer to others suggestion to his question.

Thanks,

2001 Esteem VX

Hey folks,

I have a Bombay regd 2001 Esteem VX, with 1,23,000 km on the odo. I'm the 3rd owner. I got the car evaluated in Bangalore (I moved here a few months back) and got a tentative 80-90 K quote (if the car had been KA- regd) from Concorde motors (Tata-Owned Dealership). The guy checked with his counterpart in Concorde Bombay, and the guy there is quoting 30-40 K! Says he can give a real figure only after physically examining the car.

While I understand quoting low is one of the tactics used by these guys, can there be so much of a difference? Or are the Concorde guys trying to gyp me of the 50K exchange bonus that Tata's offering this month?

The car is still running great, returning an FE of 13-14 kmpl in Bangalore city traffic.

Can anybody help me out here?

Thanks in advance!

i doubt you'd get more than 70-80k that too if sold in Mumbai and that too to an individual. dealer won't offer more than 60k.

70-80 K would still be ok, and in fact, is what I'm looking at. But IMHO 30-40 K seems simply ridiculous!

@Sn1p3r

Around 4.8-5L is what you should expect for a HR 26 registered car. If this is the base version (S MT) then a few ten thousand less.

Are you selling the City?

4.8-5.0 is too low IMO. If your car is in good condition i.e. no scratches etc then expect around 5.5-6.0 Lacs. And SMT is not base variant, it is middle variant with all goodies except alloys. I guess 6 lacs should be the good deal for you SN1P3R.

I am not expert here but my relative has sold his 2009 35K KM old city for 5.7 Lacs.
