re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread. (Online tool : Page 1)

Guys, need some guidance from the experts.
I own a Chevy Aveo 1.4 base model petrol, 2006 november purchase. Pen/Thane registration. 27k driven only (yes, thats really hard to believe, but true). First owner. All 5 alloy wheels. Interior condition is 8/10 , exterior has some bumps and bruises - 5/10.
I spoke to a few dealers who say 1-1.2 lac is the best i can get.
Is that all ??

Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

If you ask me about the Jazz, it is worth it. Based on condition etc. and possible expenses, its more of a negotiating task.
5.5 sounds ok, but maybe a middle of the road offer like 5.7 could do the trick.
Hi Selfdrive,
Thank you for your great Jazz threads in the forum. I think its unfair to say this, especially when the seller is a fellow BHP-ian, but have to let it out. It looks like he is in no hurry at all, because he didn't negotiate at all at my quote of 5.4(I had a set limit of 5.5 but could always stretch it by another 10k) and it also didn't help that I am in no hurry as well.
My father wants it to be a new car since it will be my first car, especially considering my luck when I shop anything for me!!
I think, I have partially decided to hold my purchase till I get back in March. One thing is sure though, it will only be a Jazz, new or used!
Cheers.

Aveo has been a slow Seller, dealers have probably quoted their price.
Try and find an individual buyer, and you will get a better price.

It is very very tough to sell a car like the Aveo on your own unless you try to dump it on an unsuspecting friend/family which again is not the right thing to do.
Sorry to say this, but you have no choice but to take the price quoted by these vultures (dealers) and move on. As such, Chevys have no resale value and the Aveo was not at all a success even in their(company's) books, which is why this low resale value.

A friend of mine recently(last week) bought a 2007 Aveo LS for Rs 1.75 lacs. It has run 80000kms and has CNG on papers. He bought it directly from a individual.

You should be able to sell yours around 1-5-1.6lacs to a individual. Had yours been a Delhi regd car, I would have bought it (its just 27000kms run man).

^ To add salt to my wounds, the dealer actually behaves as if he is doing me a favor by taking the car at that price !

Guys, remember one thing, while selling the car, patience is the key, just dont dispose it off for, whatever the first buyer quotes you.
Sold 2 cars in last 2 years, this is how it went.

1)Circa 2010,we were selling our 10 year Bolero with 1.7L kms on odo.
We demanded 2L for it,but the buyer(a dealer) offered 1.5L,infact he was desperate and,was trying to forcefully foreclose the deal by handing over token money, but dad was pretty sure about it,not a penny less than 1.9L.
After a few rounds of home, the same dealer eventually bought it for 1.95L.

2)Jan 2012-Time to dispose of my 2005 Accent GLE,-I just asked a dealer about selling price for an Accent, with the model details, without even looking at the car he quoted 80K,i was like, dude,i am not selling a 10 year old M800,eventually sold the car for 2.45L(I know i got an excellent price, probably a few thousands more than the market value, but the car was in excellent condition, and ran as good as if not better than a new one).

PS:Both of them were in excellent condition when sold.

Hello Varun,

Hope you are doing good.

Used Diesel Cars are currently Priceless. I am looking for a used Maruti Diesel Hatchback within Rs. 3.5 lacs but am not finding a good Car.

Anyways regarding question on your cars, similar used SX4 ZDI are quoted on some websites at approx Rs. 8,00,000 & Etios VD is quoted at approx Rs. 7,00,000. Though the estimates are vague, but anways you too are just looking for valuation & have no plans for actually selling your cars.

Thanks,

Good to know someone is reading what I type, phew! I think I know who this bhpian is and I perhaps also told him he should not be selling it. Let me clarify I have no personal interest in the deal either way.

I hope you get a Jazz soon either way. In terms of sentiment, I agree there is nothing to beat a new car, but its up to us to balance it with practiciality.

Thats their key tactic for you to give in. Tell him you will contact him later. Go find another dealer if you cannot find an individual to sell it too. Or advertise online.

Etios, 10L (as I dont intend to buy one)
Doesnt matter anyway as you dont intend to sell
just put up the numbers on carwale and you will get an approximate idea.

Hello All,

A dealer in western suburbs in Mumbai is offering Aug-2008 Tata Indigo LE CS with 20,000 kms on ODO for Rs. 2,20,000. This is a Diesel Car.

The price seems to be on lower side, shall I go & see this Car? Other then Service history & No Claim bonus on the Insurance policy, is there anything hat I should specifically notice in Used Tata Cars?

Thanks,
