I feel Alto KB10 should be included in the list, it is the same case , as of new Wagon R, new engine, new front, new back, the dimensions of the car has been altered and it has totally new characted than the old alto.
In linea T-jet, it was just the engine with increased power.

I guess you didn't read GTO's clarification above. WagonR is included because it is a new platform. In Alto's case, is it?

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

It was between Figo, Polo and Vento for me. Voted for Figo, not only because I own one but because the way it was delivered to me.

I got my car delivered in flat 3 weeks and in a no nonsense way. Compare that with huge waiting periods of other newly launched cars!!

I love the looks of Polo and Vento and of course VW innovation in their ads :P but the waiting period turned me off!!

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

I voted for the Toyota Etios. I am sure it will be a hit.
The price band its set up in is an achievement fro Toyota.
People forget the 'City' was developed for the developing countries, and see how its a Hit here in India, in the next price band.
Quality and dependability will never be an issue with the company.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Out of the list, Figo and Vento are in real term the game changers. Etios might be another, but its too early to tell.

When I read about Figo last year - a car on Fiesta platform priced lower than Swift - I had serious doubts about its success. But Ford proved me wrong and finally managed to convert me. So it goes to Figo for exceeding expectations.

Possibly then the new Alto does not qualify.

I reiterate that we can only include NEW CARS in the Team-BHP COTY, and not merely an existing car with a new engine (which the Alto K10 primarily is).

Nope, they are entirely different. The WagonR is a new car (as in, new platform, new body etc.).

If anyone wants to discuss this further, please use the suggestions thread.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Ford Figo simply because of being the best VFM package in its segment. Though I bought a Swift DDiS this year but Figo was the only other car that held my attention for the maximum time and I did have second thoughts. Not as fun to drive as the Swift but nevertheless a great car.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

I voted for the car that I would buy if I was in the market. Thats the Etios. Of course we are yet to see how the market accepts the car, but I am pretty sure of its success.

Figo was a close secong, and Beat third.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Never thought I would vote for a Ford but I did. They just got everything right this time including the price. Superb all round package with a great diesel engine . That sealed it for me.

The other option I considered was the Aria. Respect to Tata for coming out with better products everytime.

Etios, because it will be a game changer in the entry level sedan segment. It brings Toyota's legendary reliability within reach of aam-aadmi, and after reading the first impressions at this forum today, it does not disappoint.

I voted for Aria. Yes, it wont win, but just because its a daring move for Tata Motors, and its a very un-tata like tata.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Ford Figo. Not only is the car a hit, but it has given Ford India a mass production success it badly needed. Today, the Figo is a genuine alternative to a Maruti Swift. Well done Ford!

I voted for Figo,
IMHO Figo TDCi Titanium is the ultimate VFM product.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Is it a good idea to have votes according to car segment ? That would - in principle - lead to better 'segment leader' opinion !
