Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Even after owning 2 Toyota cars I am not considering Etios as there is nothing new or fresh in it, considering Toyota earlier launches (Fortuner, LC, Prado, Altis and Camry) there is nothing appealing in Etois. So thumps down to Etios.
Beat - I guess its fresh and appealing but still not winning my heart, however I want to appreciate GM in bringing this vehicle even in their downfall.
Wagon R - Maruti has potential to bring in new upmarket feel cars however they still want to stick with their old proven cars, I am not sure why they don't want to take a risk even after ruling the market for long years.
Nissan Micra - I love this car a lot, however Nissan has lot of home work to do in terms of increasing dealership and pricing. I presume a good car is going in dog days cause of inefficient planning (Precisely - Its planning for a failure)
VW Polo - Its a dream come true for all Indian to own a affordable German hatchback at this price, however they are killing it by long waiting periods. Why they hell they don't increase their capacity and meet the demand, alas everyone would love to see these cars getting leap market share (if not at least me)
Vento - Same as above, waiting period keeping potential buyers away from this car.
Aria - TATA wants to create history and they have made it, they have showed the world how to make cheapest car and how to make expensive "Made in India" car. However until they improve their A.S.S they don't need to make any launches. Since the latter would be killed by their A.S.S.
BMW X1 - Is it launched yet?? Why are we including this in 2010 list?? We should have pushed this to next year as the pricing is the key for this model. So I am not considering this as of now.
BMW 5 Series - For some reason I don't like this car (perception), I still consider E to be better than this.
Yeti - Voila, any given day my vote would go to Yeti, this one truly deserves to be "Car of the Year 2010".
  • Perfectly priced
  • Abundant features
  • Proven Diesel Engine
  • Elegant design
  • Excellent Mileage
  • Zero complaints from owners
Only -ve is the Skoda A.S.S but I am sure it is improving. So I choose Yeti.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Vento - because this is something that challenged Honda's snobbish sales pitch that City is a no-brainer. After 13 long year (please correct me if I am wrong with the date) people finally have an equally matched alternative.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

I have voted for the Figo. The conservative looks maybe mentioned as a negative, but safe looks always ensure longevity, and Ford got it spot on this time (the missing rear power windows is a mystery though).
I would have gone for the Yeti, but that DSG omission is a big disappointment!

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

My choice is Ford Figo undoubtedly not for the fact that it is the ICOTY but for the sheer Value for money proposition.

The moment I drove the car, I felt that this car will go places and Ford have a winning ace in their hands. All now it is to be seen is how Ford maintains the momentum going forward.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

I voted for the FIGO
  • Atlast the common man gets a chance to own a 'Blue oval' badged car
  • FORD has taken great pains to sort out all issues with this car. Case in point is the 3 peice side mirrors, if they break you don't have to replace the whole mirror, just the part that is broken
  • Its the maximum car you can get for minimum money.
  • For ages FORD had the most fuel efficeint diesel, in the FIGO they've taken the diesel game to an all new level
  • It has its quirks, like the rear windows being roll downs and they do not even roll down fully

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

I voted for X1 for the efforts of BMW to break the 25 lakh barrier. They have already done it with the 320d and now I hope they also do it with X1.

If more luxury brands compete with BMW, Joy for the customer

Was confused between Aria and Figo. Voted for Tata Aria. I am sure it won't win, but I love the car!

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Ford Figo!! Hands Down

Kudos to ford for engineering such a car for Indian roads and economy as well

And the plant in Chennai ensures the spares aren't sky high in price.

Alas if only they had a higher BHPED engine with the same frugality. It would have been the hot hatch of the year and would have dethroned The Swift.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Voted for the Ford Figo, not just for its VFM and made for India.

As an owner, I am very satisfied with the car and its maintenance so far.

And it has indeed changed the fortunes of Ford - they are doing second shift in their long 15 years in India. Congrats Ford for taking the competition head on & giving such a good product.

Closely coming next are TATA Aria & Toyota Etios - both cars being something of a new unchartered territory for both the T- badges.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

I too voted for Figo, after considering the value for money, the city+highway driveability and fuel efficiency, even though there are some things that I did not like (such as that colourful combination of interiors, absence of 1.6 litre petrol engine, Fiesta legacy).
