Voted for the Etios...Japanese reliability, Toyota batch, superb after sales support and, in my opinion, the most VFM car launch this year!

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

To me, there is no clear winner. Yes, the FIGO is leading in the poll now and seems to have bagged a lot of awards including ICOTY and Auto car awards and many more too. But I dont think the car is a segment beater. The car does not look radical enough like a swift and hence will always be the no 2 or the no 3 in its segment. The Vento again is a close contender, but I think VW could have may be priced it about 15% lesser, the diesel at about 8 lakhs OTR which could have then taken the fight to the fiesta and may be even the etios diesel. I have still voted for the FIGO, for its the only diesel hatch which has beaten Maruti in its own game-price!

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Voted for FIGO - Reason : It's a complete package and a great VFM. Though my heart still goes for Polo mainly because of it's International looks but mind says Figo.

OT : Somehow while voting I was surprised to see the list of options. I was confused and thought how can we keep BMW X1 or Skoda Yeti in the same list as Figos or Polos etc. I mean they are never going to sell in the same numbers or affect major customer base of India (middle class) as Figos or Polos etc.
Then I thought if I would have created the list for voting as per segment then How would I create it ?

Could not figure out for 2hrs and then I thought leave it to moderators man :-) you just vote.

Re: Team-BHP Car Of The Year 2010

Nearly 1,000 BHPians have decided that the Ford Figo is indeed the Team-BHP Car of the Year 2010. Capturing 38.30% of the poll, the Figo garnered even more votes than rank no. 2, 3 and 4 combined. The all-roundedness of the car, along with a VFM price tag, really did it for the Figo. It's time Ford brings out a Figo 1.6S variant....just for the enthusiasts. Then, the lineup will be complete.

It's not surprising to see the Vento at the no.2 slot. Another all-rounded car that is priced well (crucially, below the Honda City); great looks, stonking diesel engine, spacious interiors and balanced ride & handling. The Aria made us all proud in terms of Tata's engineering prowess. Equally, the marketing department's pricing strategy let me down. Heck, they nearly did a "Honda Jazz". The Polo would have surely done better if it weren't for the 3 cylinder engines.

Congrats to Ford. Job well done.

- Toyota Etios : A sedan that beats the Dzire at its own game. Spacious, torquey petrol, safe ride & handling and the "T" badge for 5 - 6 lakhs.

- VW Vento : The only sedan that can challenge the Honda City's 13 year hold on the C+ segment. Priced well for a European, good build, excellent ride & handling and a stunning diesel engine.

- Tata Aria : A giant leap ahead for Tata in terms of product engineering. However, an equally large step behind in terms of VFM...something that Tata has always stood for.

In the end, I have to pick the Figo...Ford pulled off a master-class move in the hatchback segment. Evidently, the market seems to agree too.

Congrats to the Figo. Even though it was not my choice. I guess it has to be a really good car.

Off-topic, but on my system, I can see that Figo has got just around 375 votes.

It indeed is off topic, because Figo has recieved 375 votes only, so it would seem so on any system

By 1000, GTO meant total number of people who participated in the poll which is 979 ~= 1000. Is that your confusion?

Congrats Ford and all Figo owners!

GTO, one request, can we have the Ford Figo on the Team-BHP header above 'SEARCH TEAM-BHP'? The Figo really deserves it.

That spot is reserved for truly special cars. I can consider a Fiesta 1.6S instead.

Now that's disturbing!! I see a Punto, Swift, Nano, I20 among others and I don't see why Figo is any less special than these. I am not debating, just thinking out loud. It does not make any difference if Figo were to be there or not, but just that word "truly special" made me think!!

Aye aye Sir, it takes a special Car to sweep Team-BHP COTY and it has sweep-ed ICOTY awards too. (agree its the same TDCi engine, but its a good tractable one and the chassis is nice too). And its affordable for the masses (most important) with all the safety features standard in the industry in its arsenal. I had a brief stint in the Car and I was impressed wrt to its competition.

Why do duch general poll generate less than 2% response of the members here? Any views to increase particaption to make it more successful ?

Cheers,

A 60bhp commuter car that sells well doesn't cut it to be on the Team-BHP header.
