Re: BMW X1 launched at 22 lakhs! Details on pg. 7!

Can anyone post the pics of the base X1's interiors. I believe both the base versions, the s18 and s20d, come with a diff trim, no leather / idrive /screen etc. It'd help to just see what they look like from inside.

Does Haryana charge a higher road tax for company registration? If so, then yes, a CBU will be more expensive to register than a CKD (as it is in Maharashtra). Please list the ex-showroom + on-road prices of a Fortuner and X1 (to compare). Thanks

Agreed. A Mumbai BMW dealer has lost count of how many 3 series owners converted to the X1. And a friend who bought a 320d in the recent past feels about not waiting.

The competition IMO for the x1 are the 3series, C class and the A4 NOT the Fortuner.

People who want an all out 4x4 will still go out and buy the forturner or one of those machines. The x1 for me is the perfect blend of saloon, softroader and urban commuter.
Congrats ! Exactly what I was saying that X1 will not be up against Fortuner and SantaFe etc, but 3, A4,C class. It is much closer to these sedans in terms of space, behavior, handling etc...

Re: BMW X1 launched at 22 lakhs! Details on pg. 7!

The X1 will really change the entire luxury car market scene in India, considering the amount of walk in's the dealer here has it sure will take BMW's annual sales in 2011 above 10,000 units considering they ended 10 with 6,246 units.

I don't know why exactly did they launch the petrol model considering the Diesel corp ed. should do all it's numbers and in a lot better manner. The best part of the X1 is even the corporate ed. has the memory seat package which the 3 did not have and goes to show BMW really knows how to sell it's cars.

GTO, any idea when do we expect your review? Would love the comparison between the Petrol and Diesel.

thegman, Congrats on buying the car you say you got the highline with all bells and whistles so am I assuming you got the cool elegance pack too? Would love to see the interior with yellow piping when you get it.

If that X1 was HR registered then that definitely is a test car, it has already been featured on a couple of shows!
Also wanted to know whether the X1 with the panoramic roof is a CBU or not? Mercedes S class with the panoramic roof used to be a complete CBU till about recently when they started assembling it here, i wonder if the same case is with BMW.

PPS, The S500 with the Pano roof is an SKD, and the BMW X1 with Panorama roof is a CKD, both in a manner assembled in India.

Re: BMW X1 launched at 22 lakhs! Details on pg. 7!

What is it ? A car for a X5 wannabe ? A crossover like Nissan Murano ? A little SUV and a little estate or is it the ultimate hatchback driving machine ?

At 22 Lakhs it is not bad considering that a Camry comes for around that price in India and so does a Fortuner.

For the BMW badge many would be ready to shell out 22 Lakhs.

Re: BMW X1 launched at 22 lakhs! Details on pg. 7!

wow.wow.wow

Thats all i can say. All i now need is some really hefty vitamin "M" to get my hands on the beemer.

It may not have the butchy looks of a fortuner or the feature list of a santa fe. But in the end its a beemer and there is no question about it.

i dont know how can it be compared to a toyota or a hyundai.

Nothing comes close to the pleasure of driving a beemer.

A fortuner looks absolutely great from outside. But on the inside its nothing more than an tweaked innova (really no offence to the owners. Just my personal opinion and feel). I feel the looks and instrument cluster of a Polo is miles ahead of fortuner.

Santa fe: I just cannot take a second look at the vehicle, though the spec sheet is just amazing (dont forget the 444 Nm of torque)

Those cars might be very well put together. But my opinion is that they lack the character / professionalism of a beemer, merc or audi.

Some may say SUV is good for off roading. The need for an SUV starts when the roads ends. In city you may find your SUV extremely comfortable during the few weeks of rain. Rest you will find driving an SUV in city a pain in ***. Just use your right side of brain (your so called the rational part of brain) and say the % of time you were offroad. That will answer the question of the need for SUV.

My final saying is that if you want to buy suv's go ahead and do buy one.

But if you are a "BHP"ian then this thread can be closed here.

The fourth model X1 sdrive20d (Cool elegance) is 2,60,000 more than Exclusive variant, ex - showroom. Which should make the x1 above 40.

On another note, Cool elegance variant comes sports seat for driver and front passenger, nevada leather, sliding armrest (?) lower dashboard in oyster and some changes in the interior, matting and leather color. I wasn't aware of this variant till i visited Navnit motors yesterday.
