I beg to differ here.

Though I agree to the point that Fiat is expected to fail. But that is ONLY because of their stupid, good-for-nothing Sales & Marketing teams. I don't know what the hell these teams are doing seating in their offices. And for God's sake and their own sake, Fiat should move away from Tata.

Let me know what you guys think about this - i can invest some time on this if you all think it is a good idea.
do you mean YoY sales... If you could do that, it would be nice

+1 on that.

The Etios figures also includes demo cars which are sent to the dealers.Infact, all the figures which are discussed on this thread are the primary sales figures (from company to the dealer).

Re: December 2010 : Indian Car Sales Figures

The Fiat India problem is also caused by a poorly executed product, compounded by poor sales and after sales.
On the product side, their poor fit and finish, driven by a reliance on the Tata supply chain results in a car that most Indians will no longer accept. Even on the engineering side, it is a mystery why Maruti and even Tata seem to have done a better job in their cars with a Fiat engine.
These are things that cannot be corrected by just fancy marketing moves. From all that has been seen till now, I do not see that the Fiat management team has the strength of character and management skills it will take to succeed, and I see this as a third and final failure for Fiat in India. Based on my Fiat showroom visit in June 2009, I had then asked the question here about whether history will repeat itself in India for Fiat and earned significant criticism for even daring to ask such a question from Fiat, shall we say, well wishers.

The numbers reported here are already known to be manufacturer to dealer ones. It was made clear a long long ago here !!

Is this means they have cleared all 2010 models from the factory?. Hope the January'11 sales figures will be high like we seen in the case of Nano.

Just to clarify, the EVO is @ 48 lakhs.
This makes it potentially as expensive as the 530d and Jaguar XF D OTR.

I dont see why anyone would want to buy the EVO after seeing the pricing.
The enthusiasts too have more than enough choices at that price

Time and again it has been mentioned that all the figures discussed/mentioned are PRIMARY SALES FIGURES (FROM COMPANY TO DEALERS)

The SECONDARY SALES FIGURES (FROM DEALERS TO CUSTOMERS) are collected by the territory sales officers from each dealer from their sales territory and compiled.Based on these SECONDARY SALES FIGURES,stock in hand and stock in transit, the dealer is supplied (or rather invoiced) cars for the next month. How ever, these calculations vary for fast/slow moving models, marketing strategy and discounts for a particular model and new launches.

No VW numbers yet.

VW makes a lot of difference to the numbers and perception overall.

Re: December 2010 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Retail sales are different from the sales posted here which are just sales from factory to dealers.

To give you an example heres a news article from economic times today.

Quote:
NEW DELHI: Retail car sales zoomed to the highest level in December as year-end discounts prodded customers to buy new cars.

Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker, topped charts with its retail sales touching record 1.38-lakh mark in December, 54% higher than the 89,469 cars it dispatched from its factories in the same month. Ditto for Hyundai Motors that sold over 51,000 cars as against a wholesale figure (number of cars dispatched from factories ) of 26,168 cars. While Honda Siel India sold over 6,200 cars in the same month, Toyota sold over 7,500 cars.
So there is a margin of almost 50% between retail and actual sales.

Excellent sales figures for the VW group. Honda City finally has a worthy competition. I guess thats a good thing as we may see some more offers on the City. Polo numbers seem a little less compared to the competition.

Rubbertramps

Mazda 3 here competes with Ford Focus not with Ford Fiesta.
Ford Fiesta competes with Mazda 2.

I don't think in any way Mazda 3 looks like Ford Fiesta at all.

Thats an excellent figure.

Models in less than 10Lac sedans are actually increasing. Will be good to watch this space after say 6 months.

And how about the waiting period for Vento? Is it available of the shelf now?
