Me too(ok, I thought years ago), till I saw the numbers in the Excel sheet.

IIRC, there was a yellow panther moped in the ad, which used to come long time ago; "panther ki aisi shakti,....." something like that and the moped crossing a small stream of water. (or was it avanthi moped ad?)

I'm going seriously OT, but couldn't control myself. The moped indeed was panther. The jingle goes like this:

bade pahiyon ki badi hai baat,
in raston pe barson ka saath,
bade bade pahiye panther ke,
badi hai iski baat,
kitne bhi mushkil ho raste,
nahin koi darr ki baat,
panther panther.

Seriously it has made an impact on you to come up with the complete sequence. The ad guys who worked on that would be proud if they see this post.

I don't think it made any specific impact or anything, its just that I remember the ad jingles of almost all automotive ads that were aired when I was a kid.

Well, I read in TOI today that some multi million dollar company has booked 800 CX and 200 LX variants of NANO. Needless to say, that company's probability to own the first nano is comparitively very high as compared to the aam aadmi.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I guess I read somewhere that TATA has recieved atleast over 1 lakh bookings for Nano .

Regards.

So Xenon had a comparatively lively start. Didn't expect those many to get sold.

A pictorial representation of 2008-2009 sales data

I went through the ACI data as well but felt it could be broken down by segment and body style. Here is an attempt at some graphs using just the sales numbers. Let me know your thoughts. Have included only the top few in each as otehrwise the charts were very crowded.

Indian Car Sales Figures and Analysis-hatchbacks.jpg
Indian Car Sales Figures and Analysis-sedans.jpg
Indian Car Sales Figures and Analysis-suvs.jpg
Indian Car Sales Figures and Analysis-muvs.jpg

Have grouped by price range as well
Am using A Segment < 3 Lakhs, B < 5 Lakhs, C < 10Lakhs, D < 25 Lakhs, Z > 25 Lakhs.
Indian Car Sales Figures and Analysis-asegment.jpg
Indian Car Sales Figures and Analysis-bsegment.jpg
Indian Car Sales Figures and Analysis-csegment.jpg
Indian Car Sales Figures and Analysis-dsegment.jpg
Indian Car Sales Figures and Analysis-zsegment.jpg

Am trying to put together some more. Will add them later.
