You mean the SX4 did outdo the NHC ? Cool - beating the leader in just the 1st month of Intro. I am sure the folks at Honda are watching closely and coming up with their trump card pretty soon.

Wow!!!

What seemed impossible has been done... Honda has finally come under pressure in India... After 10 long years...

We should wait and see how the trend continues in coming months. MUL has serious issues with supply and clubbing it with (if possible) near future new NHC with safety features, NHC may continue to be leader. Interesting to watch out!!

One more thing to note is that SX4 hardly had 20 days in May..So the figures are for 20 days while its for 31 days for the rest of the lot...

Hmm, think so... But anyway I am neither a Maruti nor a Honda owner. So no big worry! Lets wait for the detailed report to know about the status other players. Hope NHC will bite more dust this month. I am fed up of seeing thousands of Swifts (poor mans' car) and NHCs(pride of middle class) in Bangy roads. Hope to see some change in the carscape of this city with SX4 et all.

Check this out.

We have all been praying that Sx4 beats Honda City in sales, and that the Logan doesn't really set the sales charts on fire. Both the wishes have been granted.

Another car that was hated by most was the Zen Estilo. Maruti thought they could bring in the old MR Wagon and create another winner. But i guess customers have now come to associate Maruti with better cars.

Zen estilo- 3699
WagonR- 9401

(ACI- April 07)

In the SX4 vs Honda thread, the sales figures have been qouted.

Now, with all respect, am not into an argument on that. My point is not the exact sales figures. Honda has taken a beating by the release of SX4, and it shows in the way they have chosen to respond.

Thats interesting! Of those three and a half thousand sold, three thousand must have been sold in Pune itself. I see far too many of them here. And many of them in Pink , which is a bit , IMO.

And I think I am the only one here who hasnt seen a customer Logan on the roads yet.
I used to see test mules more frequently (disguised though, thankfully).

But SX4 numbers include display and demo vehicles of all dealers, so numbers in coming months will be right comparison.

If the "sales figures" includes display and demo vehicles, does this mean that these vehicles are sold to the dealers too? I was under the impression that the manufacturer provides these vehicles to the dealer free of cost and the dealer has to pay for registering it.

And if that is true then the honda city is still the segment leader by quite a margin considering there are more than a 1000 maruti dealers.

According to me SX4 can't beat NHC, If it beats also it will be temporary situation for couple of months untill all intial bookings are cleared.

Customers buying SX4 and NHC are from different class.

May be SX4 is for Safety, Driver oriented young generation people and NHC for Honda grade, Luxury comfort, space, refinement

Regards,

Ravi.
