48xx to 4177 units for SX4 and Esteem. Is the fall because of demand for the SX4 stabilizing or falling demand for the Esteem? Is there any break up giving exact numbers for SX4 and Esteem separately?

Budget also matters. My friend had a 5L budget, so could afford something better than Spark. That is where i10 scored with much better interiors.

And- As i said, i hope the Spark succeeds.

Even Versa is selling more than the Palio.

Given the fact that Maruti was already selling close to 2000 + units in the C - Segment (Mid-size (4001-4500 mm)) prior to the launch of the SX4, i think the SX is probably selling 2500 or so units per month. City clearly rules the segment.
Is my assertion right?

Perhaps a reasonable estimate with a maximum possible upward range of around 2800. If esteem was selling 2000, one could assume some shift towards SX4 from loyal MUL buyers who were previously considering an Esteem. Assuming Esteem sales have declined by around 40% would give a figure of close to 2800-2900 for SX4. That is still 700 below the City.

However, one can safely infer that after the initial leadership position of SX4, City is back to No.1 for 9/07 and 10/07.

Though I wont call it a revival or anything, I also have been seeing quite some new Palios on the road. Not many, mind you, but still enough considering that interest in it was almost nil before the Stile launch. And I saw a couple in Kollam (Kerala) too alongside many Sparks which seem to be a big draw there.

Since Apr 2007, Palio has clocked near 2000 mark according to the excel sheet Vasudeva shared on the forum. Quite an achievement looking at pre-TATA tieup.. I remember TATA had set target of 3K though not sure it was yearly or half yearly... I hope Gande Punto and Linea will do some good to FIAT...

Quite shocking esp because the Omni is doing so well. You would expect Versa to be the logical upgrade to an Omni buyer. Looks like Omni buyers are not upgrading but buying more and more omnis.

The production capacity for SX4 per month is around 3000 only. So you can't expect beyond that.. (Still you can see the waiting period.. No offers... No interest cuts...No pushing) But for City it's different.. Immediate delivery. [Referral Discounts/No preclosure charges/3% 4% low interest rate]
We can have a real picture only after the production capacity increase....

Your spot on! I personally know a few people who between them have in the last 2 years bought a dozen OMNI's. I wonder if they even know abt Verna or care to replace the Omni

Its cheap, frugal and a boon for smalltime commercial applications!

You meant Versa, right?

Omni has survived in the market for a very long time - so the spares are cheap and the vehicle is assumed to be repaired with ease anywhere. I am saying this since my uncle who owns a couple of Omnis (for commercial purposes, obviously) thinks that way. Besides, it is less investment.

Better mileage compared to the 1.3L in the Versa too.
