If Fiat are going to be stubborn in their belif of not marketing their car's then these are the results that are going to come in. The GP and Linea will be similarly (mis)handled by them. Some people never learn!

How many people even know that the Palio has a MJD now? It was in our fellow member, Busa's blog where I read a comment from someone that Fiat stole diesel engine technology from Suzuki and are conviniantly calling it their own!

As I had posted earlier, I have noticed quite a few Altis since around late-Sep 2008. Almost all were blue. Perhaps it takes time to be noticed on the roads, but there could also be some channel stuffing. Perhaps Nov-Dec will give a better indication. What is certain is that around 3500 Altis were produced in Aug-Sep 08. Not all would have been sold, otherwise dealers would have no stock.

Yes & No.

The 3 series is getting thrashed by the C-class, especially this month.

However, the E class still has a deficit of 200 cars in this year alone when compared to the 5 series. Although in sept the E sold some more.

Btw, how come VW is not listed in here, when we have cars like Rhino on there, I am sure we can make some space for VW.

Look at the sharp decline in the fortune of Ford. Ford used to sell 3300 per month in 2007. That is down to 2150 in July-Sep 2008 quarter.

I think maybe Corolla is not selling 3500 cars/month in 9/2008. But that is the way the numbers are reported and that is the way others incl. Honda, GM, Skoda, Maruti also do it. With that in mind, 3500 is still a very high number and can be affirmed by a visit on Delhi roads.

Merc and BMW are selling in record numbers and Merc figures for 9/08 are the highest since 3/2005 (coincidentally both Mar and Sep are depreciation months).

Skoda Auto with fabia is now equal to Skoda without Fabia of a year back. Only difference: sales value of 12-14 lakhs has been replaced by sales value of 6-7 lakhs.

Is making and selling 3500 M-800 profitable. Will A-star/new Alto push Alto into M-800 territory, and M-800 into oblivion or Nano segment?

Fiat should perhaps call it a day and survive on servicing crumbs and selling engines. Inspite of hosannas sung by some members about the 500, it is perhaps not selling at all.

In the MUV segment, can you notice the recent sharp decline of Tata (Sumo, Safari) and the continued success of M&M. Innova has usually not been affected , but even it has declined a lot in 9/08. This should not happen in a depreciation month.

Finally, media has been reporting an uptick in sales, but Sep is a depreciation month and a 5% yoy growth in sales is very low.

Suv Sales

From the sales chart I have made these observation kindly correct if wrong

---------------------------------------August08--------------September08
  1. Honda CRV --------------------------- 129------------------------127
  2. Maruti Grand Vitara--------------------- 24-------------------------19
  3. Ford Endy----------------------------- 269------------------------ 248
  4. Chevy Captiva -------------------------120------------------------ 131
  5. Hyundai Tucson--------------------------3---------------------------4
  6. Mitsubishi Pajero------------------------221-------------------------143

Does this mean the honeymoon days for CRV are gone with ENDY,Pajero and Captiva giving it sleepless nights.

Uh! Hyundai Tucson? Its there in sales chart you say? I mean, I thought its been laid to rest ages back! I do not understand this 3 - 4 numbers in consecutive months. Are they making the Tucson on order now?

Massively down. Corrospondingly, the Verna in the C segment seems to have gained. Is the Ford diesel losing out bigtime to DZire diesel and Verna diesel? There seems to be a sharper decline after DZire has come in.

I am disappointed with ford. Looks like they need to get in the Ikon 1.4 TDCi and the 1.6 TDCi engine for the fiesta ASAP!
The Verna, new city and Dzire Diesel will definitely kill ford in the coming months if they do not act fast.

That may be true, but apparently the `collectors' feel that it is not worth collecting either for emotional or investment reasons. Have not seen a single 500 on NCR roads.

The Crv numbers are shocking though. Looks like recession has hit it hard.

Well the altis i felt is very easy to be missed. Was behind one recently and thought it to be an accord until i saw the badging.

Time for hyundai to put tuscon to rest. Captiva seems to be giving good competition to GV and the Crv though it is a 2wd and also the most expensive among the 3. Guess diesel has been of some help for them

Well, definately Captiva has eaten into CR-V.
Endy and Pajero have been selling in such hight numbers for quite some time now (2 years?), which is phenominal for such expensive to buy and expensive to own vehicles.

IMO, Grand Vitara is one hell of a product, purely let down by the engine.
Good to see stocks clearing by 20/25 each month. Once inventory is empty, we will see the 2.4L Grand Vitara...
