The previous one was by Detroit Diesel. The current one is done by Hyundai.

the Verna engine is made in Chennai. This car is even exported from that plant.
If you have other sources(other than your surety) please list the same.

Namit, really sorry to hear that you got wrong information.

For your information the old Accent DLS featured the Peugeot Engine. The Accent CRDi's engine was manufactured on a collaboration between Hyundai and Detroit Diesel. But later on especially in 2005 the engine was fully manufactured by Hyundai.

The new 4 cylinder VGT Verna Engine is fully manufactured in house by Hyundai Europe. Detroit Diesel is not at all a part of it.

By the way do you know that you Aveo (i guess you own an Aveo) features Daewoo engine? If you open the hood of the Chevrolet Optra you'll find it written "Daewoo Motor Corporation". Just open your hood and see if its written like that. This was said to me by a guy who had worked with a GM dealership.

TSK, as far as I've read news Verna's engine is not manufactured in Chennai. It is imported from Korea. Also Verna is not for exports.

Santro and Accent from Chennai are the models which are for exports.

But I don't think that we can comment that Verna is a flop so early because the initial response will not be soooo good for a car costing more than 5 lakhs in India. Folks will be sceptical about shelling out their hard earned money on new launches !!!

The case was same with Fiesta on it's launch.

BTW .. i am well aware of the fact that all Chevy cars in India are actually daewoo in collaboration with GM but overall Aveo scores over others and thats why i bought it.

Moreover Ceilo is a far better car than Accent anyday.

Cheers.

Ads from Maruti suggest that 10,000 Zen estilo's have been sold so far.Nice achievement by Maruti.

This is precisely the reason most manufacturers are interested in this segment.

Yeah, saw the ads mentioning 10K in a month. Awesome to say the least. I wonder who lost market share to the Estilo - MUL's own WagonR or the Santro.
The Chevy Spark will add excitement to that segment.

What is the basis on saying that? On what factors is Cielo better? Is it mileage, performance, ride comfort, interior and exterior design etc? Or do you mean to say Cielo is better in all these factors?

Wow... that sure is huge!!! These many cars in just a quarter. Wonder how the traffic/pollution scene is gonna be 5 years from now.

Slightly off-topic, but Just read smwhere that since over 85% of car drivers drive alone when traveling from home-office, there are over 15 lakh (1.5 million) empty seats everyday in Mumbai alone. Compare that to just 1 million passengers of Indian railways across the country. Isn't this a total waste?

I wish car-pooling gets popular here, as it is abroad.
