I have posted SIAM's sales figure details for Jan 2006-July 2007 here:

vasudeva - MONTHLY DOMESTIC SALES-FOUR WHEELERS

Key Points:
1. Sales are down for compacts because of interest rates, but higher segments have not suffered.
2. Honda is losing it in City, but SX4 is also down. Logan is doing well.
3. Optra has taken sales away from Skoda by around 300 units per month.
4. Grand Vitara sold 238 in July 2007.
5. Maruti is losing sales in compact segment, others such as Hyundai and Tata not so much.
6. Fiesta is losing steam, and Aveo is virtually finished.
7. Premium and luxury (above 4700 mm) is gaining fast, and in this sales growth is highest for BMW and Camry.

Nice work there vasudeva,

Fiat sales are improving every month and it sold 425 units in july, the innova sales have plunged explaining the recent rise in adverts of the innova.

Ps: pardon me actually the corolla seems to have done very well considering optra and skoda[laura+octavia] sales for the month

Yes the Corolla has stabilised at around 450-500 units per month as compared with 700-800 pre Civic. Civic is around 1350-1400 pm for last 3 months. No matter what people say, new Corolla is delayed in the US to mid-2008, and in India by also around late-2008. As for my Corolla, it has been a life or at least a money saver because of its terrific and responsive brakes. I have owned 3 cars, and not seen such great braking (of course that has a danger in getting it from behind).

Interestingly, 2583 units in mid-size sedan category (Accent+Verna). Wonder what would be Verna sales alone!

Should be low considering Maruti has 4394 units (Esteem+ SX4).

Grand Vitara beats CR-V?
Seems Maruti sold 238 units of Grand Vitara compared to 225 units For Honda CR-V. Honda under pressure again?

Only 305 aveos nad 450optras? not good for Gm.

2890 units of logan is impressive and is more than tata's 2591.

38 units of fiat adventure is pretty good considering Fiat is clearing its stock.

hyundai's midsize sales are now even below HOnda's sales.

why are Nissan sales not clocked?

Moneycontrol India :: News :: GM India sales up 87% in July 2007 :: :: Press- News :: General Motors India, sales ,Chevrolet Tavera,Ankush Arora,Chevrolet Spark

Here it is mentioned that Aveo is around 1160 cars in July. Not sure, if it is Aveo sedan + UVA. Most probably yes. So, does it mean UVA is selling around 800 cars/month?

Yes you are right, total sales figures[spark + U-va == 2214],but interesting strategy by GM to club the hatch and sedan as one in terms of sales figures.

Of course, what you compare to makes a difference. GM sales in Jul 2007 were 4570, which were 87% more than 2450 in Jul 2006. But Jul 2007 includes Spark and UVA as well. On a monthly basis, their sales peaked at 5432 in May2007 because of Spark. But what the trend shows (disclaimer, I do own a GM car also) is that sales pick up in the month of launch but then go only one way, which is down. New features are then incorporated which push sales for 1-2 months, and then again down, down. This seems to be the trend for nearly all cars, but is more pronounced more GM, indicating something missing in customer satisfaction and brand pull.

Another thing that can be compared like to like is Honda. They launched Civic in Jul 06 and so Jul 07 can be compared to get a meaningful comparison. If you compare Honda Mar 07 with Mar 06, then the sales growth would be higher because Mar 07 includes Civic. Honda's sales in Jul 07 were 4533, which were up 0.7% on Jun 07, but down 13.6% on Jul 06.

For Toyota, the situation reversed. Jul 07 sales were 4255, which were down 4% on Jun 07, but up 8.4% on Jul 06.

Maruti's sales were 45339 in Jul 07, which were 21% higher than in Jul 06 (no new wagon R, zen estilo, sx4, and swift diesel in Jul 06). But their sales are 5% down from Jun 07, and 18% down from Mar 07. Conclusion: better discounts may be bargained from under pressure Maruti dealers.

because of the commonality of features and due this lots of people call SX 4 a poor man's civic (i read it on this forum) or to say that if some one was buying civic only for features then he may think why not SX4 .
