  • Spark didnt sell with 50k discounts as well? Now with i10 also in the scene. Sorry GM!
  • Grand Vitara selling almost same as CR-V! Thats a surprise considering the segment it is in!
  • Maruti MPV<3.5 tonnes- is this the omni? Selling 8110 units a month?
  • FIAT sold 3 cars in the mid-size segment? (Last two months no cars were sold. Are dealers selling their old TD cars or something? or old old stock of Petra may be)
  • Why FORD is shown in the compact segment with sales of 329 cars?
  • Maruti MPV< 3.5 tonnes, passengers 7-9- Is this the Versa?

Its probably the new Fusion which was shortened to bring it under 4000mm

From 400s to 100s is rather drastic by Honda standards. Lets wait and see what happens in next month or two. Could be due to the new variant being launched.

Spark sale

Hi CrazyDriver , you must be knowing that GM got the booking of 12000 spark during discount . If the monthly sale has been so far only between 1800 to 1900 vehicles , what will you say for 12000 bookings made in 10 days ? Moreover the price difference between i10 Era and spark LS(discounted price ) is more than 60K in Mumbai.so spark will continue to sell even with small discounts.

Wierd since if we call Palio a flop, there will be a huge row, but everyone accepts Versa a flop!

Selling 313 units of Versa is indeed quite an achievement by Maruti.

Yes. True! Its a nice car and i hope it succeeds.

However, I went car searching for my friend last weekend, and after TDing cars like i10, Getz 1.1 etc, he didnt even TD the spark. Rejected it after seeing the space and dull interiors. Let's see what happens now that Splash also is due next year beginning.

Its individual perception

CrazyDriver and his friends did'nt bother to TD spark , but when I sat in i10 , I felt spark more comfortable with better internal lay out. I did'nt bother for TD of i10 which is at a higher price as compared to i10.

The Spark at the current discounted prices is about 10K cheaper than the current discounted prices of estilo, wagonr, santro etc.
When the splash comes out, its price tag will be similar to the i10, and hence will be 25-35K more costly than the prevailing prices of the estilo, wagonr, santro etc, since there won't be any discounts in January.

Anybody booking the spark now will get the discounted prices for the February model.

GM will have to try to put this across to the people. The lukewarm response to the discounted price of the spark is disheartening to say the least. Maruti appears to have a vice like grip on the Indian market.

Quite sad to see that the auto makers price their producst high and then start giving random amounts of discounts to entice customers. Is it something to do with the common human tendency of preferring a bargain over an equally priced non-bargain?

I understand that doing this gives Chevrolet an option to hike prices (by discontinuing discounts) at any point of time, but that would further hurt the sales of their cars. But if these discounts are going to continue for a long time then why not just go ahead and reduce the prices?

As hondadude pointed out earlier - it has to be the new Fusion.

Are we seeing a Palio revival ? I am seeing quite a few new Stiles on the road. Is the value proposition finally getting across to customers ?

I doubt it. When was the Stile launched? The last 3 months sales are 228, 210, 236 units down from a high of 425 units in July. Palio sales have been extremely volatile like our stock markets .
