And Hyundai seems to be selling 10 or 11 every month in this segment (Tucson?)...

And considering Hyundai is really not selling Tucson, it's amazing that there are ~10 determined souls every month who snatch the car away from Hyundai

Remember the thread titled Fiesta becoming the number 1 in mid-segment overtaking NHC?

vasudeva-can we have the model wise details, like how much alto,wagon-r santro i10 etc.we can decide on specific models helping a manufacturer to earn the numbers.wr and estilo are fighting it out in the same segment.i10 and santro are dueling in that same segment.

Why only Fiesta? There was Baleno, Elantra, Aveo, SRV, Verna, Logan & SX4 - all petrol but couldn't shake NHC. Then a slew of diesels with CRDI pumps, such as Fiesta, Verna, Logan were launched to counter NHC. But till now they have failed.
One last frontier for NHC - SX4 diesel (with Fiat multijet engine).
History tells that it doesn't matter for NHC. But lets wait & watch.

Note: Honda still have an ace up its sleeve - diesel NHC, Honda's CTDi technology. If Honda decides to bring it to India, others will be history

This month NHC is down. I wouldn't be surprised if SX4 is leading by a margin!

Why don't they 'decide' on bringing it to India? And which diesel are you refering to, the 2.2L CTDi?

Crazy,

Honda Management will still say "Indian Diesel" is still not refined enough to match Honda's Engine.

Whatever he is referring to, Honda has only 1 diesel that you referred to-2.2L-under any chances of being put on any car worldwide. That too around 2009. Whether that will be put in new City, Civic, or something else is pure speculation and too far away in the future.

NHC has still managed to thrive because of its FE and perceived quality, which the competition perhaps cannot match in either 1 or both aspects. But the 11/07 figures are low considering that it was Diwali. Unlike before, this time NHC faces competition from a carmaker (SX4/MUL) that Indians have experience of and are comfortable with. That has still not dented sales of NHC drastically, but who knows what happens in the next 6 months.

I used to think they are jokers, but they are atleast technically correct. With all the talk of banning Diesel cars in Delhi, automobile manufacturers have stated they will be able to meet stringent emission standards if they get clean fuel.
This only proves it, currently the fuel quality is not good enough to have a clean diesel car in India.

Yes it is true. Its like pushing for reforms from the bottom. Take the Team-BHP New car checklist for example. If more and more people start using them carmakers, dealers are gonna fcae the heat and it will result in more attention to detail, transportaion, storage etc from them.

Currently Oil is being transported in MS pipes throughout India. Diesal, petrol, kerosene etc are all transported via the SAME pipe.

Illustration

Refinery -> pumps x gallaon of petrol -> reaches distribution point at given time (they calculate the time it will take to reach lets say from Mathura to Lucknow)

Keeping a 'safe distance/time' (relative term - i do not know the exacts) the refinery may next pump in kerosene and then Diesal

As a rule they try and pump some kerosene between any two consignments of petrol and diesal to avoid a direct contact.

Pumps (pressure) fail, pipes burst..its a normal thing. At times fuels also come in contact. But most importantly during transportation Mixing happens.

Trust me even your favorite 'Pure for Sure' pump could recieve a bad batch transported through the pipes. What companies do is try and negate the cheating/mixing that happens after the oil is extracted at the distribution point from the pipes to the point it is delivered to the pump.

Hope this helps

hey-on a sales base of 3000 cars there is a margin of 1000 cars means thats not a small job done.sx4 is leading NHC by 1000 units.and things are looking good for maruti this month also.

yes, and I have read the reviews of Honda 2.2 liter diesel accord on www.whatcar.uk. They are amazing.

And just see this:

Honda (UK) - Hate Something Change Something

I think Honda are sincere when they say that our (Indian) diesel is useless.

Logan was supposed to blow the Indigo away, but it looks like Tata can't be blown away easily. After initial hype has died down, people have put their money on the indigo.
This means that there is still a great opportunity for someone to position an economical diesel in the sub 6 lakh space. I am betting on the swift sedan
