This number is a death blow to all NHC critics. Who can beat this number? cheers:
Did somebody say SX4? SX4+Esteem number is at a humble 2939, including exports .

Well, that still does not indicate much for Honda cars in general. If you read the press release completely, the Apr 07-Jan 08 is a mere 1.7% more than Apr 06- Jan 07 sale. Typically, January sales represent a back log effect of the previous year, when most people postpone their buying decision for the want of a new model year.

Honda has given split up of all its models. What more in particular do you want?

Whats so sacrosanct about Apr-Jan period figures?
Counter this: HSCI sold 7,767 units in January 2008 as against 6,013 units in the corresponding month last year. This is an all time high sales for the month of January for HSCI.

Is this true only for Honda buyers or is it true for all car buyers?

This is true for all Car brands, I myself postponed my car purchase from December to January, just to get the new model year!

Precisely why I specified NHC-ZX figures. NHC sells twice more compared to the SX4/Esteem combine. Cheers again.cheers:

i dint see Jan 08 numbers for SX4 anywhere. An increase is expected in Jan since not many people buy in December.

Any clue how did HONDA managed to beat Maruti's SX4 with that huge margin for the Jan'08.

It was SX4/Esteem combine for Dec'07 (with app 54% extra sales in comparison), let us see for FEB'08

ACI top -10 figures for Dec 2007.

1. Maruti Suzuki Alto- 18,046
2. Maruti WagonR- 10,218

3. TATA Indica- 9,497
4. Maruti Omni- 7,721
5. Hyundai Santro- 7,690
6. Maruti 800- 7190

7. Maruti Swift- 6,373
8. Maruti Zen Estilo- 4,938
9. Toyota Innova- 3,848
10. Hyundai i10- 3,737

Some things I found interesting-
1. WagonR sells more than 10,000 units a month? With better products like i10 in the market, wonder what keeps WagonR going. LPG option perhaps?
2. Maruti sells 15,156 units of WagonR+ Zen Estilo, while Santro+ i10 sold 11427 units.
3. Omni and 800 still going strong. Got to see the sales of the 800 next month, as NANO has been revealed.

Yes.

But tell how is it that, from SIAM data, you can know the break up for individuals models, specially for companies like Maruti/Hyundai having two or more cars in same segment?

Agreed. Indigo total sales volume 90% Diesel and 10% Petrol. They are simply hospitality industry (ITC and other TATA owned companies primarily). we sell close 9000 parts for gasoline a year to Indigo. Diesel Indigo rules the market in its range due to "value for money" ..Do BHPians agree with this ?
