Really?? I would seriously doubt that. Your defense of the NHC & blatant arguments against criticisms of it (whether genuine or otherwise) makes it apparent that you're not just 'hardcore' but a 'fan boy' too.

And this comes from a guy who like Honda & has owned their products for much longer than you've done.

Not true in all cases. Want an example? How about the first-gen Accord in India?

.. Good one there Diabloo. What shall we call the model about to be launched? New new Honda City aka NNHC?

So are you saying the NNHC is worse than the NHC? And thats why all the people are buying NHC because they want to avoid buying the NNHC?

There is no seems here. It is correct. Sales are recorded when products are shipped. Provisions for dealer and customer sales incentives, allowances, and rebates are made at the time of vehicle sales. Incentives, allowances, and rebates related to vehicles previously sold are recognised as reductions of sales when announced.

I think it can be named as Very New Honda City (VNHC). But I still dont understand the panic funda. Wouldn't people wait for the Latest (?) City than buy the existing NHC ?

More than power and looks, I would be really happy if Honda tries and implements the safety features (ABS, airbags) across all models.

Dont know if anyone noticed it, but Murad Ali Baig's news bulletins are back on the web after a long absence. His bulletins have been the most meaningful of the lot, offering you a wealth of information by each model.

I was hoping to do something similar here, but with no access to real figures it was quite a hopeless endeavour.

You can download the latest figures (Feb 08) here:

Car Sales figures - March 2008

Just posted the March 2008 sales here:

vasudeva - DOMESTIC SALES

1. 1. On a year to year (yoy) basis, sales up 11% in 3/08
2. 2. I10 is now gaining at the expense of Maruti. Maruti’s compact segment actually declined in 3/08 over 2/08 (highly unusual given that Mar is always higher than Feb).
3. 3. Fabia is getting cold reception so far.
4. 4. City nearly trebled in 3/08 over 2/08 and 26% increase over 2/08.
5. 5. Maruti sold 7536 of SX4 and DZIRE?
6. 6. Indigo suddenly selling more (Indigo CS)
7. 7. All 4.5-4.7 m cars sold drastically higher compared with 2/08 and 3/07.
8. 8. Accord’s loss (production cut) has been gain for others.
9. 9. Grand Vitara is reporting grandly lower numbers each month.
1010. Huge sales gain for Innova, and healthy for Scorpio.
1111. For full year 2007-08, sales loss for Ford, HM. Stagnant/low growth for Tata, Honda, and Toyota. However, Toyota, Honda, GM, and Skoda reported their best ever month in 3/08.

Disclaimer: The excel sheet gives total figures for 2006-07 and 2007-08 based on summation of months. This varies slightly with SIAM sum, even though the excel sheet is also SIAM data. This is because year end figures fgiven by eah maker may be different from monthly figures. The difference is small:

EG: 2007-08 excel sheet sales: 1546488; SIAM 2007-08 figure: 1547985
