Remember it's the initial months for the Captive. True figures will emerge after 6-odd months have passed & initial hoopla had disappeared.

Yup, very true! Even for a new product in that segment the figures actually quite impressive.

Yeah, in like the past two days, i've seen like ten+ on the regular gurgaon expressway/cantt/mahipalpur areas, and predominantly the gold one! Looks bherry naish.

Yes Captiva is sure to give CRV a run for money.I liked Captiva a lot and the street presence of Captiva is good and comparable to CRV.
Wonder whats the sales figures for cedia?

The sale figure for Cedia was 246 in Feb'08 according to:
http://www.cybersteering.com/pulmain...d/News0803.rtf
The sales still don't seem to be picking up. Mayble March figures will be different

Captiva is one of the better looking SUV's on our roads. Neat is the best word to describe it. The biggest advantage it has it has a diesel under its hood.
Its good to see sudden surge in Cedia sales.

CRV sold on average 305 in 1/08-2/08, 203 in 10/07-12/07. It is still selling well, and should hold its own against all comers. Captiva is in its 2nd month, and it requires some sustaining power to definitely say that it is a serious competition to CRV. Most likely all new launches in general and GM's launches in particular, it will decline.

Even when all soft-roaders are given for free, Honda CR-V will outsell them. Pardon me for my harsh words.

The problem I find with Chevrolet in India is that they have never delivered consistent volumes in any individual segment. No doubt the cars are good and can can stand up to competition, but they usually start out as the top sellers in a segment and quickly fade off. The Optra, UVA, Aveo and Spark are all examples.
All good cars and well priced as well but not exactly runaway success stories. before they find their feet Chevy will have another launch up their sleeve and the only marketing strategy they have for earlier models revolves around heavy discounting and more limited editions.
Although their overall sales growth looks rosy it is disappointing for a company with a model in every segment there is. Hopefully Captiva will turn the tides.

People who favour Honda can consider it that way.

This doesn't sound harsh. This just sounds over-optimistic !
