Re: Jaguar XJ-L now in 3.0 diesel and 5.0 supercharged supersport versions in India

Really love the XJ 3.0 diesel but waiting to get a good deal. Currently there's no discounts on it so comes to a whopping 1.05 cr in mumbai on road. Mumbai dealership being company owned - they have a take it or leave it attitude. Didnt even get a follow up call from the dealer after my test drive. On the other hand, the S class and 7 series are offering good discounts but the jag has me smitten.

Of all places, sighted the XJ on the road from Hyderabad to Gulbarga! It seemed to be in a big hurry to get somewhere and zoomed off in great style! Wish I had a 3.0 burner!!

Its rather surprising that the 7 is at a much larger discount than the S even though the S is the one that will be replaced next year.

Or is this a standard norm by BMW to bridge the price difference between their CBU 7 and CKD S ?

A 730d OTR thane would be 85 lakhs now ?

Re: Jaguar XJ-L now in 3.0 diesel and 5.0 supercharged supersport versions in India

Sahil,

Sorry am not aware of RTO etc. In thane, but yes should be close to your figure as it works to the same here, but the cars are not as loaded as the S, lacks ventilation and few other things as the S has an advantage of being a skd.

I guess discounts on the 7 are higher due to it being a CBU and atleast in gujarat region the dealers have a harder time to move a 7 compared to the S.

Also any idea what discounts can be had on the A8 since we are on this topic?

Regards,

Regards,
Audi currently not offering any discounts on the A8 since its a relatively new launch. Will talk to all of them again in a month or so.

Been seeing many CH registered cars in Mumbai. Specially the high end ones. Any idea how to get that done? The Mumbai Jag dealer said they would'nt do it but can give me the car with a temp registration and I have to manage the rest.

Most dealers get it done for you. The Jag showroom is owned and managed by Tatas hence they will not do such hanky panky.
My friend bought a RR from Navnit earlier this year and they handled the complete CH regn work.
If you do intend getting the Jag then take it on TR regn and look for an agent in CH to get your work done. I am sure bhpians living in CH can help you out with some contacts.

Your quote should read - The Jag showroom is Mis-managed by Tatas. They are just not interested in selling their cars. I went with a friend, who is one of the top most builders in Mumbai, to see the XJ. The sales people had a completely take it or leave it attitude. No follow up call either. Mr. Ratan Tata needs to seriously look into this and appoint some more dealers in Mumbai who are actually interested in selling the cars.

Its unbelievable that manufacturers talk about customer satisfaction but refuse to do anything about the dealer experience. The dealer imho is the make or break factor when it comes to a car purchase. We can possibly get at least a hundred such examples for skoda, on this forum alone.

I believe that they spend a good amount of money on dealer trainings. I wish they put some tracking mechanism in place to see how much of that training gets through to the floor.

Btw, it not only in India that such dealers exist. My brother and I went to a BMW dealer in the US a few years ago ( during the recession) and he actually used these words "Why do you want a BMW?"

I felt like telling him that there is a mercedes showroom down the street and they dont want to know why i want a merc!

Spotted the XJ L on 2 different instances in Mumbai.
The reason for writing about it here being that both these cars were taxis !

On 4.10.2011 - Black XJ L, going towards the airport, spotted on the sea link. Smartly dressed Chauffeur driven. 2 firangs in the back.
