Jaguar has recently added two more variants to its S class and 7 series rivalling XJ-L range:

cool thanks for the info, I was thinking of getting a 5.0 but I dont think I wouldnt be able to use the power, for that I need a sports car, so I think the 3.0D option seems very cool.

Exclusive pics of the first XJ L Super Sport from Delhi.

Thats superb news sid. The diesel should surely help the sales of the new XJ. I have always said that this car has more character than the S or the 7. Just look at it. And that 5.0 Supercharged V8 is a rocket. This will be fun :). The prices look pretty competitive to me.

Will it manage to shake up the Germans? I really hope so but BMW has one thing the Jag doesnt. The BSI service packages. In that dept, Jag needs to improve.

But I still love Jaguar

I wish I had money to buy this:deadhorse

BTW, this looks soooooo much better than the S-class. people in India are still swayed by the Merc name though

Saw One of them a week Back in Hyderabad. This is the regular place where the cars are unloaded before entering hyderabad at Madinaguda infront of Lakshmi hyundai showroom. I have seen few other cars as well here.

Wanted to take some more Pics but the driver took away the vehichle in a hurry.

The prices actually seem to undercut the 7 and the S Class, which are around 85+L ex-showroom, Mumbai.
Similar pricing to Audi's new A8.

DECEMBER 2010

Top Gear has named the Jaguar XJ as its Luxury Car of the Year 2010, placing the British firm’s flagship model above rivals from BMW and Audi.

Writing in the most recent Awards Issue of Top Gear Magazine, Editor at Large Jason Barlow described the XJ as a “Blast from the future,” adding “rarely has a new car slackened so many jaws.”

The XJ is a landmark vehicle from a revitalised and more confident Jaguar. Since launch in May 2010, it has been extremely well received by customers and media alike and is fast becoming a multi-awarding winning model, having already scooped the Scottish Luxury Car of the Year and What Car? Luxury Green Car of the Year accolades.

“The Jaguar XJ brought a bold new approach to the luxury car market in the UK with its distinctive design, generous accommodation, exceptional performance and strong economy credentials,” said Geoff Cousins, Managing Director, Jaguar UK.

“We’re delighted that the Top Gear team - definitely one of the toughest judging panels anywhere in the motoring world - have recognised what makes the XJ so special with this award.”

With its lightweight aluminum architecture, the XJ is the most efficient luxury car in its class. It has attained a 29 percent segment share during its first six months on sale, establishing itself as the British car of choice with customers ranging from company CEOs to high-end hotel chains.

Great move by getting the diesel. Finally we'll get to see more xj's on the roads.

What's the difference between the current petrol version and supersport?

current petrol is portfolio, 5.0 Naturally aspirated V8 with 380 plus HP.
supersport is a trim level above portfolio with 5.0L V8, with the addition of a supercharger and 510 hp.
diesel is available in a trim level below the portfolio called premium luxury with 3.0 V6, 245 hp.

I've been told by friends that Hyd is seeing a >6 month waiting for the diesel model. Is that true? :)

The 3.0 diesel model was launched just about two weeks after the XF-S diesel launch which was sometime in Late November or Early December.

XJ diesel (V8 5L) was available last year too right? I have seen pix of the diesel at Cochin.

:X Jaguar !

OT, the XJ L 5.0 V8's growl, phew.

Thanks for the video, jk! Really didn't expect a growl like that from the XJ - quite something indeed.

Went and checked out the car yesterday, and Vow, I wish I had the Money and the Space to park her!
Lets see man proposes and God disposes, the wait at Gods is too long though.
