WagonR+ Diesel to be launched in 2006

The last I ve heard and read umpteen times is that the swift diesel with 1.3 JTD is to hit the market next month or max in february. For an estimated price of 6.4 lakh! DOnt you think its too steep?

Well if its the solio, I dont want to buy this

Did you read the earlier posts???

This was a rumour started in jan 06 saying it would be launched by mid- 06... There has been no posts for about 5 months now... And suddenly someone goes posting...

MAruti didnt launch the Solio as they said... They just facelifted the wagonR... IT WAS JUST A RUMOUR...

(Please everyone read the previous threads before reviving an old thread... cause for once, i was also shocked maruti gave diesel to wagonR rather than swift)

I don't think Maruti will launch the diesel Wagon R. The most difficult part will be pricing. The Wagon R Vxi petrol is priced at Rs. 4.32 lacs in Mumbai which means the Vxi diesel will be priced at about Rs.4.85 lacs. This is just Rs. 9,000 less then the Swift Petrol Vxi! Besides MUL is already selling the LPG Wagon R at Rs. 4.34 lacs. Also, the Wagon R Vxi MJD may end up with as many features as the lower spec Swift Petrol Vxi. Ever since MUL launched the LPG variant, I have felt that the Wagon R diesel plans have been junked.

Yeah I think the Wagon R story is done with the Duo.
Swift would come with diesel and probably the Zen too. Wonder what the strategy would be here wrt the engine. Knowing Maruti, they will put the same engine - Remember Esteem, Gypsy, Versa, Swift having the same 1.3 "variants".
For sure, they would need a bigger engine for the Baleno if they want to launch a diesel
