WagonR+ Diesel to be launched in 2006

According to Overdrive Editor's views, the wagonR+ is coming to India next year, most probably in JTD.

So its not the Swift which will be coming in the Diesel avtar. It will be the WagonR+ (Also known as Solio), making its India debut next year.

That makes sense, since this can be priced right in the Indica Territory. And since Maruti already has a 1.3 engine petrol car (Swift).

So my diesel car hunting takes another turn!..

Is it the same ... Fiat's Multijet diesel which MUL would be using henceforth for its diesel models?

yes, it must be Fiat's diesel because other diesel from Suzuki are too dated.
i think this Solio should be in showroom around 04/06-07/06.

Is this car going to offer petrol engine?

I dont think it should offer a petrol engine. Simply because because the petrol would be a 1.3L one, and Maruti already has Swift in that category. The interior dimensions of WagonR+ are comparable to Swift, if not better. So this car maybe aimed solely against the Indica.

if I am not wrong .... this looks more like the wagonR+

this should have been here long time back. I doubt it would be a success now!. After all other manufacturers are not sleeping.

SLK,
The pic you showed is the wagonR+ sold in Japan. Solio on the other hand, is a slightly revamped version of wagonR+, with more curves and a bit more style on the exterior. It sells internationally under the Opel brand. So this is more likely to be introduced here rather than the outdated japanese wagonR+.

The Solio will be unveild at the Auto expo, and has special features for the disabled to carry wheelchairs and rotating seats.

Yeah even i am a bit confused with this Solio/wagonR+ stuff. My honest guess is that Solio is just a revamped version of wagonR+ with some better exterior styling.

Whatever it is, its going to be unvieled at the Auto Expo. Lets wait and watch

The JTD is not expected until 2007 since the plant will be ready only by 2006 October at the earliest. The Solio will meanwhile come this year. With the usual 1.1-litre.

So, if diesel engine not ready until 2007, i guess they will offer petrol in 2006 then diesel in early 2007.
but Maruti and Suzuki don't have 1.1 litre petrol engine. so, Is this a new engine?

The 1.1 is India specific born out of adding a cylinder to the 800cc 3 pot.
